This is a wide-scale consumer ripoff and Microsoft is a big part of it.

When a consumer buys a video game, CD, DVD of software disc and it does not work, or the content just plain sucks, then the company who sold and/or manufactured the product refuses to give the consumer a refund after the product is opened. But the consumer did not know that it does not work, or it sucks, until after opening the packaging to try the product out?

In this case, on 10-13-07, I purchased the video game Destroy All Humans 2 ("DAH 2") for my son. He has Destroy All Humans (the first one) and it works on his X-Box 360. It turns out that DAH 2 is not "backwards compatible" and does not work on the 360. The retailer TOYS R US refused to give a refund.

On 10-14-07, I called Microsoft at (800) 4MY-XBOX two times for a total of 73 minutes. My question was: It appears that DAH 2 is not backwards-compatible for the 360. I received no notice of this before opening the packaging. What, if anything, will Microsoft do?

The inept customer service reps refused to look on their list to see if the game was backwards-compatible. They instead asked multiple irrelevant questions and wanted me to perform "troubleshooting" of my X-Box. After wasting much of my time, the Microsoft response was: You should sell the game to a friend.

Why does the packaging of the X-BOX 360, and video games, not clearly state that many X-BOX games do not work on the 360? Why is a refund not given for a product that does not work? (Or in some cases it just plain SUCKS and the consumer does not want it).

"I purchased the video game Destroy All Humans 2 ('DAH 2') for my son..." and then this game does not work..... At first I thought this was a joke! I'm GLAD this game did not work for your son! First of all such games should not be allowed. It's a war, genocide, homicide propaganda. Second, - companies who make and sell such games are evil. Third, - only a total retard can buy such a game to his son! What will your son become when hew grows up!? A serial killer? A moron? Why don't you buy him some nice games that teach him history, geography etc. You Americans really need it! Fourth, - all the big corporations in USA suck big time, are evil scams, brainwashing people and kids with horrible things and are trying to spread their evil around the world with their "globalisation" agenda. M I C R O S O F T S U C K S !!!

I agree with part of your post

#4Consumer Suggestion

I agree that there should be something written on the game advising that it is for the X-Box only, or something on the console box as well. However, when you indicated that they should refund becuase you don't like the game, I disagree with you completely. There are reviews out tehre of every game, as well as places such as Blockbuster where the game can be rented first. If a store or manufacturer accepted money back on games becuase people did not like them, they would not be able to stay in business.
