I purchased an engine for a 96 dodge Avenger from these Rip-offs on 6-07-04.

When I ordered the engine they said they had three available with different mileage so I chose the one that was the lowest at 32000 miles for $895. I asked for the VIN # of the engine so I could verify the mileage with a car fax, they said it would be on my receipt when the engine arrived.

Upon arrival the engine had a smashed oil pan, the distributor was missing, 4 broken bolts in the block in different locations and a bent flywheel. I called them about the problems and also informed them that the VIN # was not on my receipt, Shawn's response was, (they are supposed to tell me when someone wants a VIN number) in other words, so they know they need to cover their butts / tracks! They supplied me with a VIN # which I promptly checked against the VIN # stamped on the block and found it to be bogus or a lie.

I then ran the correct VIN from the block and the one they gave me on CAR FAX at a cost of $24.95. The VIN # they gave me on the phone was for an engine out of New Mexico that had been in a totaled car 2 1/2 years earlier, the VIN # I actually received was an engine from a car wrecked in their own little town of Milwaukee, WI.

When the mileage was recorded at the crash site the odometer reading was over 96000 Miles, almost three times the mileage of the engine I was supposed to receive.

Long story shortened. I NEVER got a dime out of these freaks for damaged parts or labor, not to mention the difference in the price of a 32000 Mile engine and a 96000-mile engine. All they would do is cuss, yell and hang up the phone on me, I even paid $50.00 to an internet service to look into it to try to recover some of my losses, NOTHING.

IF YOU DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE AFTER READING THESE POSTS, GOOD LUCK BECAUSE YOU ARE GOING TO NEED IT!

I was recently in the market for a used engine for my 1998 Blazer. After I recieved a responce from all the e-mails that I sent out I decided to go with a this company. I googled their site and came up with a disturbing out come linking them to company called MIDCITY AUTO SALVAGE which had a lot of complaints. I did see all the rebbutales written by them,so I decided to do my own research. After a long investigation I came up with a conclusion that they are totally two seperate companies and I am glad I did. I had purchased the engine in need and when my mechanic recieved it he told me that he had seldom seen a used engine in such great condition. To make a long story short I am very happy with this company and would recomand them to all my friends.

The original posting is correct-Rick or William Green (who is Shaun Brayden)Check with the state (wdfi) and you will see the registered agent is Edward Talyansky- same as Mid City Auto Salvage(aka Lev & ED)! Same Crooks-different name. When their lips are moving they are lying!

this bitter person name Chuck who has nothing to do but wright slander all day is confusing Midwest auto recycling with Mid city auto salvage without a shread of proof. Mid West Auto Recycling corporate attourney is in the process of finding out who this person is so they can make him pay for his slander to a company that he had never dealt with. Any one who is intersted in purchasing parts please go to midwestautorecycling.com and read few of many testimonials written by normal happy customers and not by people who sit on the net all day because they have no one to talk to.

I am sorry but you are wrong about the vin # in the block.

If it was not a VIN # it would not have pulled up anything on the CAR FAX report... they go by VIN not any other #. The VIN # I put in pulled a complete car fax reported from Milwaukee, WI. and came dirrectly from the back of a Dodge Avenger block. Thank you, Chuck.

Blocks do not have VIN#'s.

Chuck, Blocks do not have VIN#'s. They have casting #'s. I have recycled and rebuilt lots of motors and not one has has a VIN# on it. VIN#'s are generated and applied to the vehicle as it rolls down the assembly line. In many cases the engines are done somewhere else and installed on the assembly line. Some mfg place a tag on the engine with the vehicle VIN#, but that is easily removed or changed.
