Midas Auto Service Experts Charged me $50 for nothing. Ripoff liars! Universal City Texas
On 09/07/03 I took my Ford Taurus in for a brake check. Once they removed the tires, they called me and told me that I needed pads, calipers, rotors, clean and adjust brakes, and bleed brakes and flush and filter the brakes.
Knowing little to nothing about maintenance of a car, I told them to go ahead. I was at a friends house and he started asking me questions about the car. To make a long story short, I called them back and told them DO NOT make any repairs on my brakes, I would come get the car.
I went to get the car and was charged $50.00 for "brake labor" even though the sign specifically said, "Check brakes 19.99." When I asked the man who I believe was named, Antonio, why I was being charged so much, he said because they had to take the tires off and put them back on.
I wrote the corporate office at 1300 Arlington Heights Rd. Itasca, Il. 60143, and told them about this incident, and further, to complain about the additional charges I was going to encounter if I did have Midas do the work; inwhich, I was e-mailed by Midas and told they are investigating the situation.
I haven't heard anything else from them. No local or corporate call or e-mail, or letter from either party. I am totally insulted by this company in as much as my brakes needed new pads only. I took my car to another mechanic (Goodyear across the street) and saw my worn brake pads. The calipers, rotor, adjustments were all just fine. I was charged from Goodyear $31.66.
