Midas Muffler ripoff, over charge,over priced Wichita Kansas
I took my car into Midas on a Saturday morning in early June as the previous evening my power steering in my 96 Geo Prizm had stopped working. I had them look at my power steering and had them check them check the motor mounts as I had been noticing some vibration when idling and suspected the mounts were worn out. They did an inspection and found the power steering rack and power steering high pressure hose needed to be replaced. All the motor mounts were pretty worn but one was completely shot. I had them work up two different quotes for me. One quote was to fix the power steering and replace the completely shot mount. The other quote was to fix the power steering and replace all the mounts. The first quote they gave me was almost $1500. the second was $2100. I only paid $1000 for the car so I told them I needed to get a second opnion. I took my car to a local independent repair shop and had everything repaired for $800 total. $2100 vs $800. Midas was charging almost double the price for the power steering rack and marking up the price of the engine mounts by 5 times the retail cost. Don't ever take your car to Midas.
