Back in 01 I had a Providian Credit Card...my monthly payments were always on time and included disability ins protection. I became disabled and after struggling several months, called and filed on the ins. I NEVER HEARD FROM PROVIDIAN AGAIN! I was assured it was taken care of. Last year in 07 I started recieving threatening letters, phone calls and "offical" letters from laywers regarding Providian. I blew it off since "I ASSUMED" it was taken care of.

Now I am trying to get a loan for a used vehicle...and MIDLAND is messing that up...stating I owe over $1500 bucks on a Providian Card (that had a limit of $500.) I call Providian, to see what was going on. PROVIDIAN HAS NO RECORD OF ME??? I call Midland back.... They are willing to settle for $770. I take this information to the bank who will not loan me money for a vehicle until this is settled, BUT the bank is willing to loan me the money to pay this debt off. I request a fax from MIdland to verify this with the bank. THEY REFUSED...told me that the only way this offer was good was if I immediately gave them my credit card numbers or all the information on my checking account so they could access it and withdraw "that" amount. AS IF!!! I am not that stupid to allow anyone access to my accounts like that.

I called Providian again, since they had no record of this things are starting to NOT make sense. I spoke with Fraud dept, and they looked into old accounts that were sold, amazingly my account was NOT sold to Midland. So I have now contacted all the credit reporting agenices, filed a complaint with the BBB and with the FTC and I am going after them. They are trying to collect an astronomical amount on a non existing debt...I have figured out they use the bait and switch method to rip people off. Claiming that you owe a HUGE amount, but if paid right now, just give us your information....so we can withdraw what we think you owe. Not only that they have changed their story so many times in the last 4 days of my trying to get this straightened out I am almost amused.

If anyone has a class action suit going against them contact me....THESE PEOPLE HAVE TO BE STOPPED.
