Midland Credit Management - MCM bottom feeding, junk debt buying,harassing people ignoring the law ripoff San Diego California
I am so mad right now I can't even see straight. This company has only been harassing me for a couple of months but it seems like years. My phone rings daily sometimes twice. Here is the story.
Approximately 10 years ago I met a girl who had a car, after we had been dating less than a month she told me that her car had been reposessed because she fell behind on her payments. We were both in college at the time and knew she would not be able to get her car back. I told her she would have to take the hit on her credit report and face whatever consequences came of the repo. She never heard anything from Ford Credit which is the company she financed from. I know this for a fact because we ended up moving in together and eventually got married.
This is where I get involved 2 months ago she received a debt collection letter from Midland who is now demanding $5432 dollars from her. The phone calls started and from reading this site I knew not to talk to anyone over the phone. I had her send a debt validation letter to this company certified mail return receipt. We got delivery confirmation stating that this company received the letter on 9/5/06. In the letter she stated she wanted the company to cease and desist with the phone calls. She stated she wanted everything sent via mail.
Her credit was shot after the repo we had to wait the 7 years for it to go off her report before she could even get her own credit card. I know the SOL has run out on this debt and yet they cointinue to call. It has not been 30 days yet since they have received her letter to validate but they completely ignore the cease and desist par of her letter.
I am at my wits end. What is our next move? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
