MCM contacted me for many months regarding a credit card balance of $3,300 with Chase Bank from 4+ years back. They repeatedly offered lower settlement amounts and from the start I stated to them I would pay 20% on the dollar.
After many calls and just sticking to my guns on the amount, they settled with me today for two payments of $355. That's $710 to pay in full a debt of $3300.
Just stand your ground and be willing to talk to them each time they call and you will get a deal that works for you. I paid off a debt for 21.5% of what was initially owed.
