I am trying to settle a Jugement lien , in order to refiannce my Mortgage . When i call Midland Funding LLC ,

they have professional collection agents ,in India, The problem is that on a faily large sum ,stating that I owe ,

made up of  the $9100 in  debt  plus $4,000 in interest ,the agent ,will not give me a fair distcount , and only offered me  a discount of  around $1,500 ,totalling $11,600. i am willing to pay them $3,500 to $4,000 at tops .

I am getting help , and had an expert Credit Repair guy speak to the  agent , after I spoke to them  4 days before . However , the professional Credit  Repair  guy , got the same responce , from &13,899, they will only offer mre discount settlement of $11,666. This is extremely unresonable .

If anyone , has an idea that could get me a better settlement with Midland?,  please ,let me know

If anyone has  a phone number in  San Diego , ( or in the U.S)?, please let me know . I will  ask an attorney , to help make a call   to them , to see if he can get a better response .

                                           Thank you ,Jay M

Cheese always goes good with a nice whine, so perhaps you need a little snack to bring you back to reality.

I am all for NOT dealing with Collection Agencies and highly suggest you NEVER talk to them by phone, where all communication is in writing. I also know that most are basically "Bottom Feeders" who will try to dredge up old debts and get you to pay.

But here is your problem, this is not a regular debt.  You have a JUDGEMENT, which is basically a judge confirming that yes you do in fact owe this debt.  They don't need to be "fair", they just need to follow the judgement because unlike a regular debt a judgement has force behind it that allows them to do things to make sure they get the money.  As long as they are following the order in terms of Interest and Fees there is nothing you can really force them to do.  Now, if they aren't that is a different story and you may have a valid complaint.

Because of the actions they may be able to take, your offer of $4,000 while I am sure in your mind is reasonable is actually quite laughable if you think that any company would think that was "fair".   You got them to knock down about 10%, that is about average.  If you get really lucky and perhaps give them an offer in writing with just the right wording they may knock it down to the real debt amount.  But if you are thinking anything less than that you probably have a better shot of making ice cream on the suface of the sun.

By the way...exactly how much are you paying all of these Credit Repair companies and attornies to try and settle your debt for less?   Perhaps that money would be better spent to try and settle it on your own.
