i took my car to miller starnes chev to get my heater fixed....the car is a 1990 corvette...i left it and 2 days later someone finally looked at it.....

the reason i took it to a factory authorized dealer, #1 they have factory trained techs, they have all the latest factory tool and equipment, and i wouldn't have to worry about them not doing a good job because after all they are a authorized factory dealership and they are supposed to have some integrity 

then they called me and told me i needed a heater core...i told them to go ahead and replace it if that would make it blow hot air, and he (tiny, the service manager) said that was the problem, the heater was leaking and plugged up....

so the next day he calls and said i need a heater actuator motor and i said go ahead and put it in if that will make the heater blow hot air...

9 days after i dropped it off (the flat rate book says its a 6 hour job) they called me and said my car was done and ready to pick up

....so i go to miller starnes, pay my bill of $960.00 ,they give me the keys and i drive off.

...when i got home i turned on the heater and guess what? it does not blow hot air, it is not working, at all, not even a little bit (and the defroster blows a/c air and waters up my windshild on the inside )...how could they possibly have the nerve to call and tell me it was fixed and to pick it up!!!!you would think the tech would at least check it after he worked on it to make sure it worked!!!...anyway i took it back the next day and the told me to come back next week...the service manager was on vacation..

so i take it back the following monday and they had it for another day...later they called me and told me to pick it up....so when i get there they tell me they don't know whats wrong with it and their testing equipment will not work on a car that old ...they should have told me that $960 ago!!! so now i have to take it to another shop and start all over...im taking it to (((competitor's name redacted))) they assured me they can fix it...he said if they cant fix it i will not be charged anything..

so i think ill reverse the credit charge , call channel seven news, fill a report with the bbb and general motors  service dept headquarters

i left a message for the general manager to call me....as of yet  he has not returned my call

 sorry, allowing you to give a competitors name would instigate others to just file against their competition, to only come back later to suggest their company, ..plus, if you post a competitors name more than likely they will show up on search engines as a Rip-off! - - your comments on this policy are welcome. i hope this ripoff report does cause anyone to not to shop at this dealership...we all have made mistakes in life, after all we are only human, its not about making mistakes but how you handle your mistake, right?...

well, i made a mistake by filing this report before i gave this dealership a chance to handle this situation and i am truly sorry for doing so...i have only lived in the area for a short time and i didn't realize what a excellent reputation this dealership has, they have been serving the Rockdale area for about 49 years and i think i am probably the only complaint they have ever had... and it was never ever a question of being treated nicely, 

every body i dealt with at the dealership were really nice... all the folks at Miller Starnes are very nice from the general manager, the service manager, the mechanics, the parts dept and even the cashier were all very courteous and pleasant to deal with...  my problem was simply caused from miscommunication on both sides. 

so again, let me say i hope this report does not stop anyone from shopping at this dealer, the owner/Kerry Starnes will make sure your experience with this dealership will be a pleasant one!

the general manager (kerry starnes) called me and we came to a fair agreement...he apologized for  the problem and agreed to refund the labor charge if i would pay for the parts the labor charge was $720.....

so all is well that ends well...the dealership maned up and settled it with integrity.. so i admit i was wrong to jump to conclusions ,"the general manager Kerry Starnes  is a gentleman and a good business man .....  i apologize to him for posting this report prematurely before i gave him a chance to make it right.
