I have worked as a waitress in a well know BBQ place - Any party over 5 people were told that there would be ONE check - Number one - You want separate checks then you food does not arrive at the table together - the kitchen gets 20 orders - Number two - you expect a wait person to run around to and fro for your table with 20 people while that wait person has other tables to attended to - Would you do that - I think not! As far as the lawyer crap - get real - This is a public forum for those you have legitimate claims which you do not - get over yourself and when you want to host a dinner party - Try it home

You've got to be kidding. For what - hurt feelings? By the way, not only do "nice" restaurants NOT split a check (especially 20 ways), but most specify that with a party over 12, gratuity is automatically added to the check. Go to a good restaurant, and they would laugh you out of there if you asked for separate checks.

Okay, it sucks that they didn't split your check 20 ways...but it isn't really a rip off...........and for you to call your lawyer about this? haha

Well guess what i dont go to low class resturants. this is the only crap hole in the wall place i have been to and it will be the last time. i only cam in to show support for a friend. u dont kno who i am to be telling me that i go to mcdonalds or burgerking. The upscale resturants i go to does split the check. the waitress/waiter is competent enough to do so. Where does it state that mo-bay grill does not spit the check. EXACTLY NO WHERE. Dont worry u wont hear from me again on this issue from now on my lawyer will be in contact with you.

This is not "many other restaurants" -- this is Mo-Bay Grill, and apparently at Mo-Bay Grill, splitting a check TWENTY ways is NOT standard operating procedure. MOST nice restaurants will not split a check more than 4 ways. Most low-class chain restaurants will not split a check more than 6 ways. I am curious as to what you mean by these "many other restaurants" that supposedly split checks 20+ ways every day. At any rate, perhaps you should only bring your large brood to THOSE restaurants in the future. McDonald's and Burger King will appreciate the increased patronage, I'm sure.

A group of 20 people and you all want separate checks? Are you out of your mind? Most restaurants won't even split checks that many ways. Why couldn't you each just chip in the amount of your meal and pay with one check like a normal group of people? I'm sure they won't be sorry that you'll never be back after the fiasco you pulled in there.
