Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I had residential alarm services with Devcon Security for which I would pay for monitoring a year in advance each year.  Upon contacting Devcon in June 2013 to pay for another year of monitoring services, I was informed by a Devcon representative that they had closed their offices in San Antonio, Texas and would no longer be providing monitoring services in this area, and that I should make other arrangements for my monitoring services.  At that time, I contacted ASG Security for services and paid them a year in advance for monitoring.

It is noteworthy to state that I own my residential alarm system outright and always have.  Shortly thereafter, I had received correspondence from Monitronics informing me that they would be providing my monitoring service henceforth.  I promptly called their offices in Dallas to inform them that I did not desire to have their services provided, and that after being informed by Devcon as stated above, that I had contracted the services of another alarm company but thank you for offering their services just the same.

Then, after contacting them as previously stated, I received a bill from them for $470.00.  I contacted them again to inform them that I had not contracted their services, and that I had never heard of them prior to receiving their correspondence.  Their representative informed me that they had acquired my account from Devcon, to which I replied that I was not a party to that transaction and again reiterated that I did not want their services.

I also informed them that I had researched their company on this and other consumer websites and found so much negative feedback about their company and business practices that I would not consider doing business with them now or at anytime in the future.  Then I received another bill with late fees imposed.  I called them again to inform them that I was not a customer of theirs.  Then the harrassing telephone calls began!  These folks don't even have the courtesy of having a person call you.  They do robo calls at least twice a day whereby if you want to speak to one of their agents you are put on hold for five or ten minutes.

I have also contacted them in writing to remove me as an active customer, but the robo calls continue to this day.

Some salient points: 1.) I did not have an outstanding balance with Devcon, NOT A PENNY, when I switched my monitoring service. 2.) I had never entered into a contract with Monitronics, never heard of them prior to this.  3.) My alarm system is not communicating in any way with Monitronics. 4.) They are attempting to bill me in advance for future services that I'm not even receiving from them. 5.) I am not their customer, nor have I ever been.  6.) I have spoken with their representatives, to include individuals who identified themselves as supervisors on at least a dozen occasions. 7.) I have notified them in writing.

SOUNDS LIKE EXTORTION, DOESN'T IT!  I have notified them both verbally and in writing that they will not receive a dime from me.  They have threatened to ding my credit and submit this to a collection agency.  My credit is impecable otherwise, so I don't care.  THE ROBO CALLS CONTINUE!

BEWARE! BEWARE! BEWARE!  Don't even consider doing business with this SCAM of a company!

I have read the rebuttal posted by "Monotronics Cares." The rebuttal requests me to call Monitronics to discuss "my account". Let me reiterate that I do not, nor have I ever had, an account with Monitronics.

In fairness, I tried to contact Mr. Bob Washington, VP of Customer Support at telephone 923-243-7443 about this situation.  Although I was never able to get through to Mr. Washington, I did speak to Robin, who identified herself as being a representative on the "executive team".  Robin assured me that the robo calls would cease, which they have, and that she would see to it that they would delete the account that they falsely had in my name.  I trust that this has taken place.

Other than this report on "RipOffReport.com", I have not posted anything else on any other consumer websites, nor have I filed any reports with the Better Business Bureau, Texas Attorney General's Office, nor with The Texas Board of Private Investigators.  I am assuming that this matter has been put to rest by Monitronics, as I was assured by Robin would happen.  Thank you just the same for your reply.  I don't feel that I should need to contact you at this time, as I rest assured that the matter has been resolved.  Thank you Robin!

If I am mistaken, and the problem persists, I assure you that I shall follow through with my stated intentions. I also want to thank RipOffReport.com for the outstanding service that they provide.

Best Regards,

To whom it may concern:

Please be advised that you are not providing my alarm monitoring service.  Please check your own systems to verify that your company has no communication with any alarm system that I own.   I have no contract with your company, nor have I ever had a contract with your company.  You are attempting to bill me for future services that I do not wish to receive from your company.   I do not wish to do any business with your company.

I have previously spoken with representatives of your company about this topic on two occasions now within the last two months.

I am not your customer number nnnnn8331.  Please do whatever must be done within your company to close account number nnnnn8331.

Sincerely

NOTE: I have spoken with representatives of their company on several occasions since sending this letter.

THEIR HARRASMENT CONTINUES!

I plan to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau here in San Antonio and in Dallas.  I also plan to contact the Texas State Attorney General's Office (Greg Abbott) to report them for committing extortion.  In addition, I plant to file a complaint with the Texas Board of Private Investigators.
