I have two Montres Allison's, one being the Slaaterhaug. The watch failed to work about 6 months into owning it: hour hand stopped and two push buttons failed. The company said they didn't build them but gave me a number to a guy in New York who would handle it. I called him and it was clear to me that this was just some "joe" and not a professional business. He did ask for me to send him the watch, but it was too suspicious.

I contacted Montres Allison and they offered to fix the watch. I never sent it to them. I paid about a grand for it, maybe more I don't remember. I thought something might be smelly about the offering, claiming it was worth $20,000 and selling it so cheap. And, the laughing limited edition hook I didn't go for. But, I liked the watch, liked the way it looked so I took a risk.

Recently, and I live in Orange County, California, I took to be repaired by a local watch repair shop. I didn't say a thing to him, just asked him to give me an estimate. He not only opened the watch and found a ton of Chinese parts, but they were poor quality. The movement was strange to him so he took to another place. They found it to be an usually cheap movement in a nice body of a watch. But, the essence of a watch is its movement and its ability to keep time. This one didn't do it very well and its reliablity sucks.

I had to laugh when they said the parts were a cheap Chinese movement, having read this before about the Montres Allison watches. So, I don't feel too victimized, but they did misrepresent the quality and finess of the watch. It's a edsel motor in a ferrari body. I have no axe to grind, just know that if you pay what I did, or more than a Fossil watch, you are not getting the value for your money. So my repair guy is replacing the entire movement with something that will work with the intended complications. He did not think he could get parts.

I believe the Montres Allison watches are grossly oversold and definitely a "buyer beware" item. The junk inside is belied by the pretty exterior. Definitely a good con job and certainly a nice money maker for cheap chinese movements. I say a good con job, because a good one is where you get ripped off and don't feel too terrible about it. I honestly like the outside of the watch. A good con, the victim doesn't feel conned. I guess that's me. But conned, nevertheless.

WHEN A WATCH COMPANY FIRST STARTS, EACH WATCH MUST BE CASTED, AND PARTS MADE SPECIAL, DRAWINGS, PEOPLE ALL COST MONEY, WHEN ONLY 200 OR SO PIECES ARE MADE, THE COST ARE VERY EXPENSIVE, JUST AS GM, MAKES ONE CAR IT COST 300,000 ONCE PRODUCT IS MASS PRODUCED THE COST COMES DOWN, WHEN MONTRES ALLISON ONLY MAKES 200 PIECES, THE COST ARE VERY HIGH, I MADE A SCREW FOR MY AUDMERS TO ATTACH A LEATHER BAND, THE SCREW COST 100.00, I NEEDED 4 PIECES, THE WATCH REPAIR CENTER TOLD ME IF I MADE 2000 PIECES THE COST WILL BE AN 1/8 OF THE PRICE, SO U CANT SAY THE WATCH DOES NOT COST 20,0000 WHEN U DONT KNOW HOW MUCH IT COST TO PRODUCE 200 PIECES VS 1 MILLION PIECES, LESS THEY ARE THE MORE IT COST, ITS YOUR CHOICE TO PURCHASE A COLLECTORS ITEM OR A MASS PRODUCT,

The truth is, if this person owns a montres allison watch, he would want montres allison to repair the item, why would he go to another store to get it repaired? his story seems very untrue, no one will go to a watch repair store before going to a dealer to repair the item for free, if this person had purchase his watch directly from montres allison, this watch can be repair under the warranty, i believe this guy is a total fake and trying to tornish the companies reputation, i own several montres allisons, some with eta movements some custom with gold movements, i have friends in the watch busniness on 42 st, they have check out some of the watches montes allison makes, most watch makers love the heavy case pure stainless steel , the workmenship is beautiful. The 18k gold movements and signed rotor are a marvel, the eta movements are sign by montres allison with the open backs, any one can tell its a swiss movement, Another fact about watches, most watch cases are made in china, even the swiss ones, dont let any one fool you, to make a 100 percent swiss watch will be very expensive, most watch parts are made in china using the best machines, which were purchase from the swiss, most of tags, rolexs, audmars, etc parts are made in china with the newest equipment, then assumabled here in the united states by watch repair centers under contacts, if the watch has 51 percent of swiss parts it can be call swiss, know watch companies have found a way around the law, just putting swiss, swiss ny not made in swiss, any way i hope this will help.
