I received a phone solicitation to have a roofing contractor to come out to see if I had any damage to my roof. Brad Spoonmore came out and found damage, the insurance man okd it. I received a check from the insurance company and called the contractor that I had money.  I didn't want to pay the whole amount. He sent out a couple of other guys to write up the contract, since he said he was out of town.  Two men came a couple of days later, wrote up a contract. I handed out $3,000 check.  Since then Brad Spoonmore no longer is on the phone number.  I first talked to someone named Jackie Wright, who she said she was the production manager. She said she was waiting  for the weather to get better. I told her I understood that. The weather started to get better, I called the office again, and someone else answered the phone.  I asked for Jackie Wright, and he said she no longer worked there.  He said his name was Mike Frank and that he was the production manager. He apparently didn't seem to know what was going on at the time. As of FEb 14, I found out that Mike Frank is the owner. I got a hold of him, and questioned if he was production manager or owner. He said he was owner.

He said he was doing the schedule, and would call me the next day.  I have not heard back from him.  He is not answering the phone. All of the other phone numbers just go to an answering machine. Another owner of the company is Richard Steffan, and Tiffanie Steffan.

I am embarrassed to say I had any association with Morningstar but I did.  It was hard to tell if this company suffered from a complete lack of any solid business leadership or if the way they operated was intentional and by design.

If their plan was to take advantage of homeowners, insurance companies, and people that thought they would be working for a company that valued integrity, honesty, and high moral values then they succeeded.

After being forced into the labor market in one of the worst times in U.S. history, I stumbled into this company for enough time to see the uglier side of this business.  Insurance, storm-chasing, roofing companies that seek only to score big time after a major storm event.  When the money and storm damage dries up, there's no solid business structure in place to continue operating.

I can't believe how many people and homeowner's I saw this company churn through.  There really should be more done to regulate these types of scam artists, starting up a "business" with no intention to provide fundemantal and long-term support to their customer's and employee's.

The principal's involved in running this thing should never be allowed to run a business, ever again.

Marci-

I would love to help in anyway possible. I do not have your number however. When I quit they made me turn all of my paperwork and files.  I know that they are in deep deep trouble but i have not had any contact with anyone associated with that company.  The last that I heard is that they are in bankruptcy.  I have never met Mike Frank. I do not know the extent if any of his involvement.  I want to help but I do not know if there is anything that I can do.  I have not spoken with Richard since I quit.  He has vanished.

If anyone else has been scammed by these people, please report it to the Indianapolis Attorney General.  You can find their website, it is real easy to file a complaint. The more people will be better so they will see how serious it is.  I want to see these people in prison if I can't get my money back. Even if I do, they need to go to jail and learn a lesson. Brad, I am assuming that is you that wrote to me. You can call me and talk this over, because you probably have more knowledge on what is going on than some of the rest of us.

My husband has been talking to Mike Frank's lawyer, and I don't even think he knows what is going on. This needs to be taken care of.

I know how you feel. I have put on several roofs for this company. I am owed more that $7,000.

I have tried to contact attorney and even the dept of labor/revenue but it seems that no one can help. They are crooks. And Mike Frank is a LIER. He will not answer the phone or return calls. We need to get a group of people together to get this CROOKS that is the only way an attorney will help. I did all the work that I an owed before Thanksgiving 2010 and still have not see a penny for this company. The last I heard from the salesman that subcontracted out the houses to me was that they were tring to file bankrupt.

Marci-

I am no longer on the phone number because as soon as I figured out that Morningstar was not going to build your roof after they collected your money, I quit that company.  I no longer reside in Missouri either. I was tired of them lying to me and I did not want to be associated with a bunch of crooks. You are not the only one that they did this to. They stole from many customers. They stole from many of their salespeople also. They still owe me a TON of money that I will never see. When I finally figured out what was going on, it was to late.  I had nothing at all to do with any of their criminal activity. I was just a salesman who was told to go out and get jobs. It is terrible what happened to you. If I were you I would contact your District attorney and try to get your money back from them. I would also seek prosecution for theft.

What they did was wrong. My guess is that they will try to file bankruptcy and get out of any obligation that they have to you and the others that they stole from.  Get something filed before they do that. I hate that my name is associated with these crooks. Again, none of the salespeople had any idea what was going on. As soon as we started to figure things out, we quit.  There is no more morningstar and there is no way that they will ever put your roof on.

Four owners of an Atlanta roofing company are sitting in jail right now for doing this same garbage.  Just google Georgia Roofing scam.  I would help you out in any way if I can. I truly hope you and all of the customers that they stole from get your money back.
