Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I paid this company to negotiate a lower rate with my 1st and 2nd mortgage holders - paid $1250 for 1st.  Paid an additional $700 fee for my 2nd mortgage for a total fee of $1950.  I am over 65 and on disability.  I made every attempt to ensure paperwork was in order, so I couldn't be taken advantage of; however, even careful attention didn't work with this company.

I requested a refund in the amount of $700 for the 2nd of which was never followed through by MAG.  I did not hear from my MAG assigned rep after Jan 2010. In the interim, MAG had a turnover, moved, etc., etc. Every time I tried to find out what was happening with the 2nd, I would receive an email telling me they already negotiated my mortgage.  After 4 months of trying to get someone at MAG to make contact and after being sent to an atty by my 2nd mortgage company for non-complince, I worked with the 2nd mortgagee and completed negotiations with them myself.  MAG was supposed to have handled this negotiation.  I have the contact name and number at the 2nd mortgage company, if needed for verification. MAG never followed up with them until after the fact and negotiations had already been put in process by me.  I requested a refund for the equity line negotiation and was told that the contract I signed refuses any refund when they do a job.  I was told I received a discounted rate and wasn't entitled to any refund.

I have a signed contract displaying 1st and 2nd mortgage company negotiations contracted and fees paid in full to MAG for these services. I also have email correspondence stating which negotiations were included in fee paid for both 1st and 2nd.  MAG dropped the ball with my 2nd negotiation, no contact, no follow up.  I called and emailed MAG several times and and no one would take my calls or respond to emails. When contact was finally made, MAG then told me I didn't pay for a 2nd mortgage negotiation and offered to handle my 2nd for an additional fee.

I contacted the BBB in AZ and was told that since MAG offered to handle my 2nd negotiation for an additional fee after the fact, that I had no right of refund. I find this unacceptable.  I paid for a service that I had to handle myself. And now, after being sent to an atty for non-compliance and lack of response by my 2nd mortgagee and negotiating with my 2nd mortgagee myself, MAG is willing to work with me for an additional fee to do something already done. Is there any recourse when the Az BBB sides with the company whom offers to help after the fact, IF I pay more money. I have everything in writing to show I paid all fees, signed contracts of what was to be handled, contacts at my 2nd mortgage company to verify lack of contact by MAG and email correspondence from MAG verifying my claim.  I received only half of the services paid in full. Is there any recourse?  I have found other complaints from other consumers online against this company.  How many consumers must be affected by their business tactics before someone takes action against them.  Consumers Beware!

Official Mortgage Assistance Group Rebuttal

#2UPDATE Employee

Fri, June 24, 2011

We are writing this official rebuttal to clarify the mission and actions of MortgageAssistance Group and its employees. We have been aware of the claims and mischaracterizations about our company and we were advised through counsel to not respond or give validity to the postings on RipoffReport.com.

Let us start off with our background and experience in the Loan ModificationIndustry. We were one of the local Pioneers of this industry back in 2007 when Home Loan Delinquencies skyrocketed in the Phoenix area. Mortgage Assistance Group has a mission to alleviate the financial burdens mortgage borrowers have undertaken during the greatest economic meltdown our nation has ever witnessed since the Great Depression.
To date, MAG has managed to follow this mission effectively and ethically. Over 300 families have been saved from foreclosure and/or experienced a drastic reduction in their mortgage payments due to the dedicated efforts of the organization. That accounts to millions of dollars in monthly mortgage payments savings and even more in local community housing burdens such as vandalism, increased taxes and the further devaluation of neighborhood values.

Due to the services we provided to the community, we earned a reputation of being one of the good guys which was doing its best to do the right thing. Before the Slander defamation issue, we had only four complaints within two years of being in business.

Unfortunately, many bad companies gained national attention and notoriety for their unscrupulous business practices. The disgruntled employees in question decided to use this fear associated with the industry and use it to destroy our credibility. They created blogs of lies and mischaracterizations about our company and its executives. Then they contacted some of our clients directly to cause panic and destroy the rapport our clients had with our organization.

This created an unforeseen chain of events which led us to downsize our company due to our Merchant Provider First Data freeze our account without warning or provocation from their
corporate office.  At the time, Merchant companies were receiving a lot of chargebacks from fraudulent companies within our industry and this led them to put any Loan Modification company nationwide into their high risk category.

MAG is formally apologizing to those who were negatively affected by these unfortunate events.

Throughout this entire debacle, MAG has handled each and every complaint and concern on a case by case basis. Some employees chose the unfortunate route to create stories about what really happened at a time when things were easily pushed out of control. Expressing opinions about what occurred or what should have occurred was ill-effective and has only led to more confusion rather than a productive positive outcome.

The company is formally requesting that any and all lingering issues, if any at all, be immediately brought to the attention of MAG directly so that they may be resolved. Let it be known that public defamation can and does have some recourse when and if a company decides to gather evidence and pursue a legal case.

As we move forward, we will be posting character references from past and current employees. We will also be providing you true actual testimonials from our clients and will give you a true view of our company and what we have accomplished for so many hard working families in need.

If you have any questions or concerns we ask that you do not get misled by these claims and you take the time to contact us in writing. We will address your complaints immediately
while we continue to pursue a mutually beneficial conclusion to your case and many of the complaints received by our organization came after the credibility and companys brand name had been tarnished.

We have created a website at www.magtruth.com where you can see all the evidence to support our claims. They will show you the truth behind our company and its commitment to the community and you may view some of our testimonials on www.magclients.com.

If you have any complaint about your service or our company we urge you to contact us directly. Even though these claims can be misleading, you can still be held accountable for placing something else on this blog that hurts the image of our company and is not correct.

My name is Hoby Stolla (Nebi Stolla's son) this is to let everyone know what mortgage assistance group has done for me. This company told me up front what it would take for me to get my loan modification and I wasnt sure if they would help. I did everything they told me and I ended up getting a 40% reduction in my payments. If anyone wants to confirm that this is true you can contact me at cowbell @yahoo.com They were able to get my through even a sale date on my home. I afraid but I knew they would see me through no matter what. I got modified and now I can rest easily and keep my home. My family loves MAG and anyone who doesnt get a modification I know its because they didnt follow MAG rules or guidelines. THANK YOU MAG.
