There is no such thing as a 2001 Cirrus. 2000 was the last year for that model. I'll assume you have a 2000 Cirrus LXi, with the 2.5 V-6. The price to replace the water pump and timing belt would be about $600-$650 here in Jax. Orlando is a little higher, so $700 is not unreasonable. Buying a used car with 70K miles on it is a good idea. The drawback is you are also buying something that WILL need repairs. You were not ripped off. You do need to get the registration corrected to show the correct year though.

You bought a used car with 70,000 miles on it and the water pump failed. What's the problem??? That's a normal maintenance item. Now, $700 for a water pump is highway robbery. Unless you drove the car until it overheated so bad it caused other problems. Why should the dealer buy the car back because of a simple maintenance item like a water pump? You need to take the car someplace else for an estimate. Water pump is a $200 job at best. The dealer has nothing to do with it. They didn't rip you off. And a failed water pump hardly classifies a car as a lemon.
