The information provided in this report below is based on comments made by Maureen Tara Nelson during an onsite inspection held by a third-party verification company with no biases towards MTN Matchmaking.

MTN Matchmaking is a matchmaking service that is dedicated to helping people find a healthy and lasting relationship. Maureen Tara Nelson stated the following about her company, "We have a very thorough screening process we are not for everyone. And I can’t accept everyone because if I did I would be like the other companies that have been out there that have all gone out of business for doing the wrong thing. My model is to do a criminal felony background check in every state on all of my clients. Then as the owner, they come to me and meet with me personally and I give them a free consultation because I need to make sure that I think I can help them. The screening process when I meet with them I make sure that everyone is a nice decent, quality, positive person, emotionally stable. I am an executive level certified matchmaker and there are only a few of us in the country."

Leads for MTN Matchmaking are primarily obtained through television appearances on NBC, CBS, HBO, and A&E. Additionally, they advertise through print, commercials, and social media. Ms. Nelson proceeded to explain the sales and services process for her clients, "What a client can expect is a free consultation where I go through the screening process with them. Then they come in and I have to get to know their personality to the point that I am matching them with 3 parts of compatibility. This is my own private method I do it by hand I don't do it by a computer algorithm. On the interview, they will know about the screening process and how I do the matching by 3 parts of compatibility. They also have homework to do before they come in they have to think about what their 5 best qualities are. Then they have to think of what the 5 must haves are for the man or woman. They are also asked to wear something nice because if they like the program I will take their photo. So, I meet with them for an hour but the longest interview I have had was 4 hours because sometimes. I do a tiny personality test at my home office. Everyone leaves here with a packet that goes over all the information of what we go over here. They get a welcome letter, they get a letter on what to expect as a client and the most important thing is a list of do’s and don't s in dating. Then once they tell me Yes I love the program then we go over the different program. I have 5 programs for them to choose from ranging in price from $995 up to a celebrity program as well. If a person is celebrity lives here on Long Island my prices are $6500 which may seem like a lot to a person who is an accountant let's say but they won't pay that unless they are a celebrity. And then I go into how it works. If a person is compatible in 3 ways as well as having the 5 must-haves they will get an email on Tuesday evenings with the person's photo and a little bio about them and their only job is to say yes or no."



CUSTOMER CARE & COMPLAINT RESOLUTION – MTN MATCHMAKING

MTN Matchmaking was asked to describe a situation where a client was not satisfied with the level of service they received. Ms. Nelson explained that there are no guarantees in the matchmaking world. She additionally stated, "I will always do my best I will match you appropriately and make sure they have your 5 must haves but there are things I do not have control over. I do not have control over if a woman or man say yes to each other. I don't have control over if you go out on a date with a man and you are very nasty to the wait staff. Those are on you and those are the ones that complain. I bring them back to the point of what it was like to date without Maureen? So with people, there are times that they come in and they are unhappy. If they tell me about it soon I can fix it but there are some people that they came in acting positively and they were not. I can’t help people like that. If they are patient, open-minded, and positive I can help them."

When asked to comment on complaints posted on Ripoff Report's website Ms. Nelson expressed that the comments made were false and didn't align with her business model. Ms. Nelson stated the follow to assure future and current clients, "I am an executive level certified matchmaker and there are only a few of us in the country and that is through the Institute of Matchmaking. Then they will see every year we win Dan’s papers which is primarily Suffolk county here on Long Island for best dating service. What they factor in is Match.com and every kind of dating service out there. These awards are people that vote in. I am up against Tinder and all those swipe apps. For Nassau and Suffolk county combined there is the biggest award for every business owner. I think there are 3000 categories of businesses. What they do is they pick the top 3 that people vote in for. Every year I have come in the top 3. We were just notified this year that we came in first place. We are super excited because that is huge! I have citations from controllers on long island...the politicians...the county clerks. They can't be bought off and these are people in the community that have said hey there is a matchmaker here on Long Island who goes above and beyond for her clients and has given me awards. I have an A+ rating with the BBB. I am also a certified wedding officiant."

I read a review on this site well after I had joined Maureen Tara Nelson or MTN Matchmaking and my contract had expired. I wish I had read it before. To be fair, I also read Maureen's multiple rebuttals to the commentary. Well, I was one of those nice, decent emotionally stable and financially stable clients of Maureen's who had positive expectations and yet, I had the same negative experiences as the previous poster. I wanted to finally post my report, so others will not be fooled & spend their hard earned money on MTN match making. I don't want people to think that there was only one disappointed person who couldn't be matched. One negative person who Maureen tried to help. In my opinion, Maureen is a fraud. Deceitful is also another word that comes to mind. Why? First off, if you join, chances are that the matches that you receive will not be what you are looking for. For example, let's say that you told Maureen that you don't want a match with children, several of your matches will have children. Similarly, the last person wanted to date someone within her race and who was at least 5'9". She didn't care if the match was divorced, had children or didn't have children. So when you get a match with your deal breakers and you call and remind her staff that this is a deal breaker or have-not for you, you will be asked to reconsider, because this limits the pool of choices. This will go on for several matches, so several months of your contract will be used up. Then, let's say, you receive a match that you express interest in, please expect to be told that your match is pursuing someone else at this time or that your match has decided to go on hold. This after her service matched you with this person. And yes, like the other poster says, you will also be told that this is a new match and they are still doing a background check. So why did they match you with this unavailable person on the first place. That's several more matches and several more months on your contract will run. Also, if you express interest in a match, you will be told that the match hasn't responded yet on a couple of occasions in the hopes that you won't follow up again during the month. I was told that one of my matches only used U.S. mail.

Again, several more months of your contract will be used. Of course, there will be a couple of matches that aren't interested in you as you will have expressed disinterest in a few, especially the ones with dealbreakers that you already told Maureen about. Like the other poster's experience of being told, he doesn't like redheads. So why is Maureen matching these two people together? Is she really putting in 70 hours per week making matches? I believe her time is spent on soliciting clients. And during the entire time, you'll be getting e-mails advising you to be open, the do's and don'ts on a date, suggestions to update your photos and be told it only takes one. So this is what your money was spent on. And in her rebuttal, Maureen stated that if you follow her advice, you won't be single. But if you are open to her matches, somehow, they won't be available to you. And even after listening to her advice, your likely not to meet a match during your contract time. She may have a party & if she has more than one party, you'll see a really good looking man & a hot girl there who are either her friends or "paid extras" to make it look like she attracts beautiful people to her service. You may meet a same sex friend at one of her parties as you are venting about the service. Hey if you're lucky, maybe you will go out on one date. But even if you're picky and you are nice, decent, financially stable and emotionally stable person, you will have a better chance of going out on dates and meeting someone with similar interests by going to an online dating website for far less money that joining MTN. Honestly, I don't believe that Maureen has as large of an active database of young, single professionals as she claims.

I truly believe she sent me matches who were no longer participating in her service. And I wouldn't me surprised if she sent out my information after my contract expired just to tell someone your match had a change in circumstances. She's already matched her 1000s. So Maureen doesn't truly care about you after she collects your payment. And don't be fooled that if you complain, you will be helped or your problem will be resolved. You will be given excuses: if you give up your deal breakers, they'll be a bigger pool. But I specifically asked you if you had matches for me and you assured me that it wouldn't be a problem. You'll be told your match had a change in circumstances, is on hold, is pursuing another match, is going through background checks, hasn't responded, or isn't interested in you. By the way, this is the first company that I have posted a negative review about. So please don't brand me as a complainer, a negative person or as someone who didn't follow Maureen's advice. What prompted me to respond and write this was seeing an ad in the LI Press. I just couldn't can't believe that this dating service is still in the running as LI's Best Dating Service. So if you're reading this and have been dissatisfied or had a similar negative experience, please take the time out to get the word out so others do not make the same mistake. And if you're considering joining, please take these reviews seriously & consider saving the money. And if Maureen pulls these shenanigans with you, please do something about it.

This client signed up in 2011, and has been expired for 5 years! She wrote this negative comment multiple places on New Year’s Eve at 6 pm. New Year’s Eve when most people are out celebrating, sadly this former client Christina is choosing to write her second negative comment on me. New Year’s is a very emotional time for singles, which is obvious. With the very few complaints I have received over my 16 years of Matchmaking, most of them are before Christmas, on New Year’s or Valentine’s Day. If someone is still single after being out of my service for over five years, I hope you can put this comment into perspective.

Even though I do not feel I need to defend myself with this emotional post, I will simply say that Christina was very difficult to match because she was in her forties, wanted children which I told her that is not something I have control over and didn’t want a man who had children. I told her which is in my notes which I keep on all my past clients, that I could only accept her if she opened that up and was open to dating with kids.

She obviously agreed since she signed up. She is also 5’2 and asked for a height requirement of tall, which again I would not accept if she didn’t open that up. But she did.

Being that she is an attorney I am surprised that she doesn’t realize the liable that she has written. However, since I have over 1000 success stories and love all of my clients, I do not let someone’s emotional lies deter me from doing my best to find love for my clients. And yes, we also won Best Dating Service from LI Press for Long Island 2018.

I wish I could make every one of my clients successful, but obviously that is impossible. I have the fewest complaints in the business and a record of success that I am very proud of.
