Freaking Mwave. I swear I'm not buying any more computer parts online. I paid for: 1) overnight shipping, and 2) assembly and testing of the hardware. I got: 1) either a defective motherboard or a defective processor and 2) the privelege of paying to have it shipped back and waiting on replacement components.

I talked to mwave's tech support twice (a long distance call) and the engineer I spoke with admitted the motherboard or the processor had to be defective. He couldn't answer why this was the case since they were supposed to assemble and test the hardware. He sent me to customer service for an RMA.

Customer service said the assembly and testing doesn't guarantee the hardware will work. So why would anyone ever pay for assembly and testing then except because they were deceived?

At this point I'm going to ask for a refund and go to Frye's for the replacement hardware. Mwave will never get my business again. I only wish I wasn't out the time and the expense of shipping.

..satisfied, but..

Multiwave's initial response (lack of) really left a bitter taste with me since I've had issues with other online retailers in the past. But Harry (mentioned below) really stepped up and made sure that I was satisfied.

I have received the replacement equipment, and it works. Beautifully. (New motherboard and Athlon XP processor.)

Harry went above and beyond the company's stated policies to insure customer satisfaction in this case, and I am a happy customer as a result. I will buy again. (But I probably will not buy from *any* online outlet if the need is urgent. Too much can happen during shipping.)

Harry from Multiwave Direct contacted me by phone this afternoon. After listening to my complaint and the options I had thus far been presented, he offered another.

He said he would email me a return label that I could use to ship the hardware through UPS at no charge to me, and all I should have to do in return is send him the tracking number and he would send the replacement hardware by the same method which I had paid for initially. What this means is I should be able to get replacement hardware pretty quickly (since I originally paid for overnight shipping), and I will not be out extra money for the return shipping.

At this point, I believe Mwave is a reputable company that sincerely wishes to resolve this issue and have the most satisfied customers. This is the Mwave I expected to do business with (since they came highly recommended to me), and I am very happy to see the response so far. Assuming all goes well, I will do business with them again.

I will continue to update this report as events develop.
