MVQ Bargain.com Home 8003804359 CA misleading language on website; monthly charge 49.80 for unknown services; don't give them your card #!!! , Internet
Summer, 2009: Helping a friend find info about foreclosed homes in our community. Started on AOL's real estate site, which led to bargain.com/homes where I learned I could only get more info about foreclosed homes if I gave my credit card #.
Here's where the red flag went up, which I ignored, because we were so curious to have the info! Don't make the same mistake! I thought I was signing up for a one-time fee of about $1. Recall thinking that was odd, and did hesitate a moment to have my card # hanging out in the breeze - but figured if enough people did this, they made a bit of money and we got the info we wanted.
My husband opens the bills, pays them, and rarely asks me about my card bill. Today, he read it to me, and I realized we've been paying $49.80 a month to these guys since June! I cancelled my credit card, then called the company, who say they cancelled my account (Kenneth #200107). Transferred to Jason #11037 (supervisor) who assured me I will have the last charge refunded to my account within 1 - 4 business days.
I told Jason the language on the company's website is misleading, and that his name and # are on the internet, associated with many complaints against his company. We'll see if I get the refund. I won't dispute the charges, since I accept responsibility for being naive enough to give them my card# in the first place!
