I personally will never buy from My Web Wholesaler (aka mywebwholesaler) ever again. My company paid $1,664.48 for a K-Mart watch pallet.

Here is what I got for my money.

264 pieces (estimate) of costume (junk) jewelry - no value to me as my company doesn't sell jewelry

6 scratched up sunglasses - no value obviously

6 watch bands - don't want them

8 jewelry boxes (retail brand new for only 4.99) - no value to me

46 boxes of blank heart lockets (retail if brand new for only 2.99) - no value to me

93 clocks (alarm clocks to be more precise) - mainly old fashion windup type - I don't sell this junk - no value to me

577 - watches

Now as for these 577 watches, here is what I got. Please keep in mind when I mention the phrase brand new price that I am referring to full retail for a new watch. Not one single watch that I received was new.

Here is a breakdown of the 577 watches (the only reason I bought the pallet)

59 KMART private label Y-Brand watches - can't sell them because KMART and MyWebWholesaler required me to sign a contract with up to a $50,000 fine for selling these. The Y-Brands are Jaclyn Smith, Joe Boxer, Kathy Ireland, & Route 66. I have to trash them all.

191 watches dead on arrival - vast majority are so cheap that they are not even worth the price of a new battery if that is what the problem is.

18 watches with broken or missing crystals - trash

77 watches with broken bands - again, most of these watches are so cheap that it is not worth the time swapping bands with the bands from the DOA watches.

46 other watches with serious problems - trash

83 working watches that are generic in my opinion - no branding on the watch face, wrist band, or watch backing. All retail if brand new for under $10, many retail for only $3.99 - $6.99 if brand new. Minimal value to me, 50 cents a watch at best.

43 working watches from brands not known by the general public as follows (Acuci 13 watches valued at $5 a watch if brand new, 1 Extreme Limits $9.99 if brand new, 5 Field Rangers, 1 Iron Kid, 1 LTO, 4 Sharp, 1 Starter, 1 Sugar Fly valued at 9.99 if brand new, 14 Ultimates valued at 9.99 if brand new, and 2 Victoria Rhein valued at 9.99 if new). I suspect these watches will fetch about the same as the generics if sold, about 50 cents on average at best.

9 watches from major brands we have all heard of but the watches are so outdated in my opinion that its not sellable.

42 salvageable watches (7 need repair) from the following (4 Acqua, 6 Armitron, 2 Lorus, 24 Timex, and 6 Wrangles).

9 pocket watches with no dates which I might be able to sell for a couple of bucks each.

I did not receive a single Nike, DKNY, Pulsar, Calvin Klein, Techno Marine, Seiko, or Casio.

My Web Wholesaler will not issue me any credit, refund, or take back the merchandise (even though I am willing to pay the return shipping and pay a restocking fee) claiming as-is, no returns. I believe their pallet description, salvage 101 disclosure, sales staff answers, and the same photo were grossly misrepresenting what I bought.

I think you should take MyWebWholesaler's advice from the salvage 101 on their web page, know who you are dealing with. Now I Know, I just wish I knew this sooner.

By the way, I took photos of every single group of items for those of you who don't believe me.

As for My Web Wholesaler, this company had 22 complaints (as of the time I purchased the watches) filed by people in the past year to the BBB. I was unaware at the time but now believe this number understates the problem because the BBB only allows consumers to file a complaint, not businesses. Thus I was not able to file a complaint.

I will probably end up giving all the working merchandise (except the Y-Brands) to a charity that's more than 50 miles from any KMART (another requirement I had to sign) after defacing what works. It is not worth my time of day to sell 42 salvageable watches on EBay.

STOP! ..before you think about using the Better Business Bureau (BBB)... CLICK HERE to see how other consumers were victimized by the BBB's false or misleading information. Don't be fooled! It has been reported, when there are thousands of complaints and other investigations underway by authorities, the BBB has no choice but to finally give an UNsatisfactory rating to a BBB member business that is paying the BBB big membership fees every year. When a business is reported that is NOT a BBB member, BBB files WILL more likely show an UNsatisfactory rating, then reportedly shake down that company to become a member of the BBB. One positive thing about the BBB is, either way, if a business has an unsatisfactory rating with the BBB, you can be sure, the business is bad. But what about all those BBB member businesses that had complaints filed against them? Consumers never get to hear about them. What about the BBB advertising to the public? Is this a false and misleading perception they are giving about consumer confidence when dealing with a business? Click here to understand more of what consumers and business alike are saying about the BBB. You decide. ..Remember. The BBB membership is not earned, it's paid for!

Shop Great Values, Lets get a few things straight. You paid $1250.00 for the watches. $1.25 each You were invoiced on the 13th and signed a legal document on the 13th and paid for such. Sometime thereafter you formed an LLC and after which you decided it would be ok for us to discard your signed documentation and replace it with a new one which is completely different from updating a file. Updating is updating and discarding is discarding. Well, I am sorry to say, this would illegal and you were informed of this several times via various telephone conversations. Our first contact with you after receiving your order was a 41 page book that showed us that you were fully aware of your purchase as you enclosed all documentation to verify. You threatened us with UCC Title 11, Article 2, Part 3, 2-313 which is meant for retailers selling to consumers and we made you aware of this as well, we are not retailers, we are salvage liquidators and all merchandise is sold as is with no guarantees. You also stated in your letter many falsehoods in which you supplied the proof to us again by sending us documentation that proved otherwise. In your letter you stated: 1. Robyn told you that many excess other products are discarded during the hand count reducing the throw away to under 30% This statement made by you is completely false and libelous. 2. You asked Robyn if there would be any Y brand watches in the pallet and Robyn told you NO. False again, you never asked any such questions and as you will notice, the picture on our website does in fact show Y brand watches and always has. 3. You state that you have to throw out all Y brand watches. False again, you have to do no such thing. 4. You state you asked for percentages as to how many watches/time pieces/jewelry would be within you lot and were told 800 watches and 200 clocks/jewelry. False again, you were told we have no percentages and that you would get what we get and that some orders have less and some have more, it depends on what K-Art sends us. So let us recap: Y brands that are in working order you will be discarding. Jewelry, undamaged and even new in the box, you will be discarding as it has no value to you. Bad Brands (your words) you will be discarding as they have no value to you. Broken Bands not feasible to fix, yet you state in the same letter that you received extra bands? Working Generics (too cheap-your words) no value to you and will be discarded. Next pictures shows 16 watches and you state 13 of those are working but have no value to you because watch is too cheap so you will discard. Next Photo, worthless unknown brands. Next Photo, some time pieces, not broken but have no value to you. So, here we are, you received 1000 units and after removing the damaged items and throwing away all the good items that you feel have no value to you, you are left with 43 units and it is our fault you have decided to discard perfectly good items along with the damaged items. I think I am going to go to Wal-Mart tonight and buy a CD, bring it home and watch it and then bring it back in the morning demand my money quoting the Maine UCC code and tell them the movie had no value to me.what do you think they will say since we all know that Any media is sold as is and is non-refundable.

Correction , Web Wholesaler is in the business of selling salvage pallets

#3Author of original report

Wed, November 19, 2003

I want to make it clear that My Web Wholesaler is in the business of selling salvage pallets. These watches were purchased as salvage watches from My Web Wholesaler. I was aware at the time of purchase that there should be a certain percentage of bad watches. My complaint with My Web Wholesaler mainly has to deal with how much that percentage is and the brands of watches that make up this pallet. Also, K-Mart is not a party to my complaint. I have no complaints with K-Mart. As it is listed, it appears I am complaining about K-Mart as well. Consequently, I have recently (in the last day or two) requested ripoffreport to please remove this complaint. If the complaint can't be removed, then I've asked them to please remove K-Mart from the name and also to remove other K-Mart ripoffreports at the bottom of the page.
