MyPhoneSupport.com reports to affiliated with and to support Microsoft issues Unknown appears to be India Internet
I bought a new HP Windows 10 computer for a young relative to use in school. I also bought a Microsoft Office program that had to be downloaded from the internet. I was having repeated issues setting up a Microsoft Account needed to download the software. I Googled Microsoft support and called what looked to be the first official Microsoft suport hit. The listing did not say anything about MyPhoneSupport.com. When my call was answered they identified their self as MyPhoneSupport.com and asled what my problem was. I asked if they were Microsoft and that I was calling Microsoft. They said they were an affiliate of Microsoft and were used to address problems with Microsoft software.
I explained my problem and they wanted to take remote control of the PC. They installed an AntiSpyware program on the PC and did a search for problems. I came up with some hits which was unusual because the computer was brand new and had never been on the internet before. The computer had McAffee installed and all software was up to date.
The individual I was talking to was obviously from or in India. His supervisor came on the phone also with a heavy Indian accent and started the sells spill and tried to sell me software computer service for all programs on the computer for $299. I said thank you give me you contact info as I have never heard of this before and wanted to do my due diligence research on the issue before I paid for anything.
My research identified some negative reports but what really raised my suspicions was a Better Business Bureau report that was very negative on them. I looked deeper and found many other very negative reports. I deleted the program they installed on the computer and decided not to follow up with them.
This morning I had a call from an individual with a very heavy Indian accent that I could hardly understand. The call number was blocked so I did not know who it was from when I answered. He asked if I needed any help with the software on my computer to which I replied No. He said thank you and that my phone number would be billed $15 for this technical service call.
These people do not represent Microsoft. The reviews on the internet when you get past the positive reviews they have obviously posted are quite negative including not receiving any help for the money people have paid.
