I am reporting a puppy scam that started when we searched online at the web site oodle. We were looking for a golden retriever puppy and found someone (Natalia Shower) that was based in Kittery Point, ME that was looking to place three 10 month old puppies. We also learned that her husband (a breeder) had recently died and she needed to find good homes for the 3 remaining puppies.
When we asked to visit the puppies in Maine she had told us that she was dealing with a health issue and had to return to her farm in Colorado. She proceeded to ask us about our family and informed us that she would be shipping the dog to us and that we were to wait to hear from the shipper by phone and he would provide additional shipping information to us. We would need to pay him via Western Union.
I am now embarassed to say that we did send them $400 for shipment. We were then contacted by the shipper and informed that due to bad weather the puppy would need a better crate to ensure the puppies safety. The additional cost was to be $850 that would be refunded to us upon delivery.
At this point we realized we had been duped. Please beware.
