I received a fax for open enrollment for health insurance for $188/month for my son that included dental, vision, perscription, hearing and chiropractor. I called the number and spoke with Tyler who gave me the information that I felt I needed to sign up. On Jan. 16th I signed up, gave them my checking account number and I was told my son would have coverage effective 2/1/08. $313 (included $125 application fee) was taken out of my checking account on 1/30/08.

To date I have not received anything - no confirmation - no insurance cards. Everytime I called I got an answering machine, I've emailed and got no response. I tried again on January 31st and to my surprise Tyler answered. He said didn't I give you the 800 number? I said no. So he gave me 800-591-6764. I called it and for 2 weeks now I got the same story that my card was in the mail. I called again today 2/12/08 and was told that "TransAmerica" didn't pull through and now Stephanie was making up the cards for thousands of people.

That's when I decided to check out on the internet (which I should have done before - stupid me!) about this company. I went to 800notes.com and found many similar stories about people being ripped off by this company. I decided to call this number that someone said they had good luck with. So I called 800-919-5514 and spoke with Jamal who said that they have nothing to do with National Alliance and they are a legite "health benefits" company and they are a company called - "Consolidated Workers Association" that would be handling my sons insurance.

I told him I wanted to cancel and he gave me a fax number 909-287-0768 to fax my letter of cancellation which I did today. He said it would take 6 days to process and to call back and they'd let me know what the status of the cancellation is and that I would be refunded my money in full.

I know other people from 800notes.com that said they haven't received any refunds yet - I don't want to get my hopes up but $313 is a lot of money to dish out for nothing. These people have to be stopped and I don't know what to do other than to start here.

I got my refund in full!!! I had my bank help me when they took out the second payment and even though I didn't get a response from Stephanie when I faxed to cancel - it got cancelled and I got my refund. It pays to be persistant.

It's February 28th and I still haven't gotten anywhere. I found out today that Jamal was another runaround - it's not Consolidated Workers Association that my son's insurance is with - it's through Beema Insurance Company which uses this SDS, LLC which I found out is the number I started out with in the beginning (800-591-6764) and left messages for Stephanie. Found out Stephanie is the one that needs to cancel this for me - I got put on hold for over 30 minutes and no one picked up. Very frustrating!!!! Yesterday we finally got the insurance papers and it's not at all what Tyler said it was - so I found their fax number and faxed a cancellation and full refund request and gave them 24 hours to respond. If they don't - I will file reports with the State Insurance Company and with my State's Attorney Generals office.
