I, too, was suckered in by NADN - never stopping to catch all the red flags. My initial contact was on their website (after listening to a radio promo) to get a "Free Cassette Tape" (which I NEVER received).

My initial call from the company came on Nov. 25, 2002. The caller said she was responding to my web inquiry about their services. She explained it all and it actually sounded pretty good - though I did not check the Web while she was talking to me! I bit for the 2 year program (at $695 a year) with 2 years free and locking me in there after at $349 a year. This was a whopping (and STUPID) $1412.95.

On 11/26 I did some further investigation on the Web and found the rip off reports. I immediately called to cancel. I gave my request over the phone, faxed it twice to two different numbers, and sent it in the mail certified letter with return receipt requested. On 11/27 my cc account was charged. On 12/5 I finally received the box of materials and never opened it. I called daily to ask about the status of my account and how to return the box.

BE AWARE! They say they will send you info on how to return the box, but the letter never comes. After 10 days of calling, I was told (coincidentally) that the letter states that from 10 days from the date they show for mailing the letter the box has to be back in their possession or you are no longer cancelled and then are back in the system.

By ace-in-the-hole, however, is that I had planned to spend Christmas with my mom in Las Vegas. I arrived on 12/20 (still 5 days left on my 30-day gaurantee) and immediately drove to their office with my box and all my paperwork in my hands. I demanded to speak with a supervisor. I spoke with Brandon Irish (800.292.9477 ext. 2268). I handed him the box after he gave me an official RA# and made a copy of the paperwork showing I had returned the box. It still took about 12 days to finally get my money credited back to my account.

My advice, like others, is act fast! Fax, certified mail, phone calls every day, and if you can - go to Las Vegas personally.

IF YOU DIDNT TRY THE SERVICES HOW WERE YOU RIPPED OFF?

#2UPDATE EX-employee responds

Fri, January 31, 2003

This person admitts he never tried to be helped, his only concern was getting a refund. He let other peoples responses on this site scare him into buyer's remorse. I dont think it is fair to the company, that you panicked and decided not to be helped. How were you ripped off? You got your money back. You never talked to anyone about tax savings, all you wanted was your money back. You are more than likely an adult, and should be capable of making logical decisons. Your complaint is not fair, and I hope that people reading this site reads everything that you said, not just your journey to Las Vegas to get your money back. If people want their money back they get it back. Most are people like you that dont even try to be helped, just need something to complain about, and scare others that can truly be helped by these services. Companies dont stay in business that can not deliver on thier guarantees. The guarantee states that you have to follow advice given. If you dont want to work within the law to save money on your tax's, than you wont save. People think they can just sit on their hands and do nothing different and wonder why they havent saved money. NADN aren't miracle workers. They are an organization that can guide you through the tax code and give real help.
