In August 2010 I had just gotten home from the hospital after my 3rd back surgery this year due to a bad car accident . I recieved a phone call from a man who had  a very strong Indian accent. He asked the name of my atty & told me he represented online payday loan company & he had legal papers on his desk that they were filing against me for bank fraud & I was going to jail. I am a single mother who was in a lot of physical pain & this guy scared me. I tried to explain to him there is some mistake I have NEVER gotten a payday loan on line. I asked him to please send me something in writting. He was rude yelling at me & told me a warrant was being issued for my arrest tomorrow. I spent most the night confused, in physical pain & scared. I am not sure how but he had a lot of my private information including SSN & emergency contact info of my girlfriend.

I have continued to recieve harrassing & threatening calls for months, they called my girlfriend & told her she better give me the message or she would go to jail too for fraud.

yesterday a man called my work over 20 times, same indian accent threatening me, after i told him to stop calling, i never got a loan, I'm calling the police, i'm getting a restraining order against you, stop stalking me, send me something in writting, go ahead & file your paperwork & affidavits, I'm calling the DA, he continued to call back another 10 times & I kept hanging up on him. I have done nothing wrong & ca not lose my job over this crazy scam.

This morning there was another message on my work phone same guy, same thing the number he left for me to call is 646-926-3143 of course when I called it is not accepting calls.

Can someone please help me stop this harrassment. I can never get an answer to what the name of the company is I supposedly owe money to, they call from blocked numbers, they threaten me with jail, rude & yell at me. I don't even know how or where to complain because I don't know who is doing this.

These a**holes are calling from India or Pakistan using fake American sounding names, their scam is To scare you into paying a Loan that doesn't exist.

Usually by saying they're Officer(Fake American Name) Obvious clue, the heavy accent, hard to understand, or cannot understand this (American Name) Officer?

Their Game plan is to scare you by threats like "Have the police at your door" or "Warrant has been signed" or "You're in big trouble", "You've committed BANK FRAUD" or similar lies.

They usually say they're from "The Department of LAW and Investigation" or similar scary FAKE NAMES (recently they used United Nations Law Division, and ACS Law division, and even more recently 1st IRS Legal Dept)

You're NOT in trouble, they're just good Liars, Pay them NOTHING, they're only Slimy thieves.

Recently they've been changing names at the speed of light, and they use a telephone relay so they look like they're calling in America, they're NOT.

This is another name, but the same scammers.

OR IF YOU WANT PROOF THEY'RE THIEVES Tell them to send you verification there's any "Debt" at all, if they start screaming at you, that's proof positive that they're just thieves.

When/if they call again tell them they're just thieves and hang up, they can't arrest you, It's just a scam.

Just tell the bastards if they call again, that you request they send you documentation that you owe anyone anything..and that you KNOW this is a scam and will be contacting the authorities.

Now you ask..how they have all the personal info???

Simple..even though you state you never had a payday loan...these payday loan websites are the biggest scam going.

Apparently, whether you recall it or not..you HAD to have been surfing the web for loans. Now..what kind of information is on a loan app??? SS number, where you have worked, where you currently work, DOB, names/addresses/phone numbers of yourself and any relatives/friends associates etc you used as references..well enough to scare you into thinking this is real? Make logical sense now?

Be more careful giving out such personal information online. They DO not find this info, they do not guess it, and they do not hack it. They get it by you submitting it to the scam site. Identity theft is a MAJOR issue, so please use caution.

And ignore the threats..it is all tactic..there is NOTHING they can do but annoy you and threaten you. Let them know..hang UP on them.
