The mover is right - there is nothing in their contract that forces them to deliver on the date you want it. With a small mover like this, the only way you get your stuff on time is by sheer luck - and that's it. Once they have your stuff, the ball is in their court and they have all of the control. You have none and there's no lawyer you can hire that would change that. Moving is not an inexpensive venture and if a price is too good to be true - it most defintely is. The large reputable moving companies have a profit margin of about 5%, so if the price for this cut-rate mover was a lot less than one the large moving company provided, then you were baited (legally). What I would be worried about is that this nightmare may not be over; the mover has yet to deliver the goods, and when they sit in a warehouse for 30 days, things get lost, broken, or otherwise.
