When dealing with collection agencies, get any and all terms in writing and if you decide to pay them off, GET A WRITTEN STATEMENT FIRST from them confirming that they will accept the agreed-upon payment as payment in full before you give them one penny. It sounds like you didn't do this the first time around...so now they're back to take advantage of you all over again.
