Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
NCO Collection agency is harassing me to pay someone else's bill!

They started calling about 3 weeks ago, and I have repeatedly tried to convince them that they have the wrong phone number, and the wrong person.

They still call everyday, with different people, all very accusatory and unprofessional. Yelling and threatening me!

I can not concentrate on my work because I work from Home, and I get really angry every time they call. What is their plan? Try to get me to pay someone else's debt? NO FREAKING WAY MAN!

What can I do if I am wrongfully accused? These NCO idiots have called and harassed me for over 3 weeks, and no matter whom I spoke to, no matter how many questions I answer, they will not stop calling me.

The person they seek has a similar name, and City, but everything else: the address, occupation, and the portion of SSN they read back to me do not match. I never had or used a Capitol One card. I never have received a formal letter of collection from them. The address they read back to me, I have never lived at.

But they don't care, they call and leave an automated 800 number every day, or a belligerent idiot calls and hassles me while I'm trying to work.

Yesterday I tried to get Mr. Patrick, (if that is at all his real name), to give me the company address so I can serve him cease and desist letter, and he just started yelling at the top of his lungs at me, to which I hung up.

They all use names of anonymity, Mr. Gains, Mr. Patrick, Ms. Tucker. They must hire from the lowest form of sewer in every state!

Today I have recorded this unprofessional behavior, and 1 call with an automated 800 number. I can not always be next to the answering machine to record them, and most of the time it is a automated voice telling me to call a 800 number anyway.

It just rattles me and boils my blood that these morons will not put 1 + 1 together and stumble over the obvious, THAT I AM NOT THE PERSON THEY SEEK!

I want these jerks to stop calling me, and be punished for the grief and anguish they are causing me for someone else's debit!

Hi - I used to work for NCO and still know many people there. Generally debtors lie but if there is information that doesn't connect the person being dunned and the "real" debtor that technically is 3rd party disclosure not allowed by law. The FDCPA (fair debt collection practices act) formally describes what is allowed by law. If a cease and desist is needed get the physical address, send it certified and keep a copy. They-or any other agency-can only contact you once more to say they have your info and won't contact you. but keep in mind they'll sell it to another ageny for about .5 on the dollar and you'll have to do the same thing. In PA and MA they can only call 2x per week and 1x per month at work. If they just hang up nothing you can do unless you can prove it. As for recording someone without thier permission it's a federal offense in many states-like PA so it won't hold water and could-dountedly though-get you in trouble. Also NCO is very liberal with settlements. If you owe $1000 offer them $300 and request that you recieve a letter first stating that upon payment NCO will remove the debt from the credit bureau they report to and they will. Always mark the check "settlement in full". If it's cashed it must be settled.

RADIO SHACK HAS A DUOFONE TAPE RECORDING DEVICE AROUND $20 THAT PLUGS IN TO A $9.99 DESKTOP TAPE RECORDER AND WILL RECORD COVERSATION THE MINUTE YOU PICK UP THE PHONE AVAILABLE FOR SALE VIA THE INTERNET OR AT A LOCAL RADIO SHACK. PLUS THE GOOD THING I DOES NOT BEEP EVERY 15 SECONDS. THEY ALSO HAVE THE SUCTION CUP KIND THAT PLUGS IN TO THE MIC JACK OF A MICROCASSETTE REGULAR CASSETTE OR MINIDISC RECORDER COSTS ABOUT $5. ALTEX ELECTRONICS ON I-35 NEAR OCONNOR RD IN SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS IN HOUSTON US 290 EXIT WEST ROAD SALES THEM AS WELL. Ask to speak with manager and keep calling back and flood their call routers until you get a decent question answered. I did that and I had some detective from Illioss come after the wrong person. Shoot I even said threatened them back because I wont let an ENRON company tell me what I should do. Consumers have to fight for the rights. Lets overthrow these Corporate giants.
