After receiving the first and second season of "Early Edition" on DVD as a birthday present from Amazon, I went to see about season 3 and 4 from Amazon. They did not have it. I saw that NETDVDVideos.com listed season 3 and 4 for about $45. Since I don't have cable, I occasionally invest in some DVD's.
Well, they sent the DVD's in an official looking DVD box with a picture of the show on the front. When I started watching the first disc, there was a "Hallmark" stamp in the corner of the screen, and the recording quality was second rate...blurry. Still good enough to be watchable, but not good.
There were editing glitches where someone stopped the recording process for commercials. And there were announcements for other shows on the Hallmark Channel at the end of the episode during the credits. Obviously, they recorded the show off of the Hallmark Channel.
I contacted, or tried to contact Hallmark, without much success. Apparently, they don't care, or it's actually not illegal. I can't say which. I guess one has little choice but to buy from a vendor with such a high profile that boot-legging is not even a consideration, such as Amazon. But, they didn't have it.
It honestly didn't occur to me that they might be boot-leg DVD's. Apparently, you can get away with just about anything anymore. I will do more research in the future before buying from a company that I do not know.
