Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
This appears to be a scam of Apple G4 Powerbook 17" display laptop computers advertised on eBay as "Pre-Approved Bidders Only".

When you e-mail to get on their list, you will be told their "story" .... something to the effect that they are overseas, have purchased a store's inventory, could not set up bank accounts in time or did not bring appropriate paperwork to do so. Wanting to liquidate the inventory quickly to get their money back. You will be asked to send money order through Western Union to them in Spain or wherever they now are. They will pay shipping. You have a return policy (of course, valid only if you ever receive the computer which you will not).

The eBay connection is insidious ... yes, the whole concept made me nervous, but these people use eBay user names with perfect track records over hundreds of purchases ... the one I contacted used the eBay name "cclda" and I was e-mailed back by someone using the e-mail address: [email protected]. You can check it out on eBay.

If you doubt ANY portion of these, go to eBay. These laptops are STILL being offered on eBay, some for around $900, others around $1700, others around $2300. All noted as "Pre-Approved Bidders Only". Contact them and see what your response is! This listing on eBay provides the legitimate front. But when they contact you to go outside eBay, you lose all rights to protection & investigation by eBay. Why, I am not fully sure because eBay must SURELY be aware they are being used as the initial contact phase for this scam. I naively think eBay would be more than willing to help someone stop this scam and get their money back because it gives eBay a bad rep.

So anyway, if you ask, you will get a littany of excuses. "I will ship Monday and provide you with shipping information then". Monday will come and go, then you will e-mail and finally, maybe, get a response something like "I have to return to the states next week .... can I meet you?" If you gave up your money, as I most foolishly did, you and your money are parted. I have kept all e-mails associated with this transaction, and have the Western Union money order to show for the purchase. I would LOVE to find out who uses the e-mail name "[email protected]" as I would gladly travel to that state and file a claim in their small claims court to retrieve my money and travel expenses to get there.

So first, don't ANYONE ELSE be fooled by this scam. And if anyone can help me locate who took my money, I would be sincerely grateful.
