My wife and I are visiting New York City this week and wanted to see a Broadway show, so I found a website (www.newyorkcitytheatre.com) that looked very legitimate with logos for "Shopper Approved", claiming "certified checkout" and "100% Guarantee", whatever that means.
I ordered what I hoped would be decent tickets for "To Kill a Mockingbird". The price listed was $481.50 each. The 2 tickets came to $963.75. The tickets were e-mailed to me Friday 5 May, 2019. The face value on the tickets were $275 each and the name on the tickets was not mine, rather, ELIMELECH BLUMSTEIN. I called Telecharge, who issued the tickets, asking about the incredible disparity in prices and was told the website I used was a re-seller and commonly sold cheaper tickets at extremely inflated prices.
I was told I should have purchased the tickets from Telecharge. I was snared by a deceptive website and overcharged $412. Fraud is theft with a smile. Can't we protect good people of NYC from these predators?
