Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I received a pink letter from the N.M.E.company telling me that I needed to call immediately to claim my 2,100,000,00 prize. I called the company and gave them the I.D Number.A recording came on and said for quality assurance the phone conversation could be recorded.

I was told that The drawing would be in December and as an added prize ,I would receive two watches. I was asked for my credit card info. I plainly asked the person "Is this a ripoff?" "I worry about identity theft" I was told that they were indeed a legitimate company. I hesitantly gave them the credit card number occaisionally saying plainly over the phone that I hope that this wasnt a ripoff. The man told me again that they were a legit company. He asked me if I would like to receive three magazines for one dollar.

I told him that it sounded like a pretty good deal to me. I accepted and chose Guitar Player,Keyboard, and Rolling Stone and was cut off and told that I could get Rolling stone for free. I was transferred to "Amy" who asked me if I would like a $25.00 walmart gift card for a dollar. I was told also that I would be sent a digtal organizer free of charge.

I told her that it sounded like a good deal to me and accepted the offer. She verified the last four numbers of my debit card four times during our conversation. She said what I thought sounded like "You will be charged four easy payments of $6.99, over a four month period, and you can cancel at any time."

She thanked me and wished me luck in the drawing and we disconnected the call. I went to my online banking to check my account because we are close to being overdrawn. I saw it there and almost had a heart attack. There was a charge of $69.99 to my checking account!

I immediately got back on the phone and called the 800 number again and explained to them that I thought Amy said $6.99 not 69.99 and I asked for something to be done about it. I was told to call their Customer service number. I disconnected and called it. A man answered the phone saying:

"Thank you for calling N.M.E How may I help you?" I told him that I had just gotten off of the phone with Amy and I thought a mistake either on their part or my part had been made. I explained that my account was almost overdrawn and the $69.99 would put us into overdraft.

After asking my name and for further information he replied, "No, the conversation was recorded and you agreed to pay $69.99 in four monthly installments, but the money will be back into your account by midnight tonight and your account has been closed." I plainly told him again that I thought Amy had said $6.99 and apoligized. He said that it was okay and the money would be refunded by midnight tonight. We disconnected and Ive been checking my online banlking every hour on the hour and so far , no refund.

I called NME today to see about my "Refund" I was told that my account had been closed yesterday, and the refund was processed at 12 midnight last night . I was told that I should expect the money to be deposited into my account within 3 -5 business days, and as an added bonus , if I have any overdraft charges as a result of the $69.99 charge that I could send a copy of the overdraft from my bank to Hazel Bishop in Clearwater Florida and I would be refunded the overdraft charges. So the wait begins....We'll see.......Dan in Danville

I'm sorry... i don't mean to be unsympathetic here.. but i get those things in the mail all the time and i immediatly put them thru the shredder... just one look at them should of told you that it was a rip off, and did you really think that they would be honest with you when you ask if it was a rip off?? More than likely she did say $6.99, and then when you called back to question it, they lied and told you she had said $69.99 and that they taped the call just to "ease" you over, so you wouldn't throw a fit. You should feel lucky they even answered the phone when you called back.. most the time the number either rings and rings...or is disconnected. I really do hope you get your money back but i wouldn't hold your breath and i would definitly contact your bank ASAP about this and tell them you did not agree to the $69.99 withdrawal and they should be able to help you somehow. If not. i would see about changing your bank account cause if not they may end up taking more out without your knowledge. Deborah
