In November of last year I let an apartment for 3 nights from Norm King off of Craig's list. Apparently he has 96 apartments in the are he rents long and short term. I was bringing my daughter up to tour UBC. He required a $300 deposit to hold the place payable by cheque only! When I arrived I paid him in cash as that is all he would take. the arrangement was supposed to be that he would come by when I was ready to "checkout" and return my cheque to me. I cleaned the apartment top to bottom as was our arrangement and called him when I was ready to depart. He then said he wasn't coming; calling it"express checkout" and that he would mail my cheque to me. He then deposited my cheque! when I called him the first time he acted like it was an oversight and he would take care of it. After the first 5 phone calls (and not receiving a cheque 3 months later)I insisted that he return my money immediately. He took down my address and stated that he was sending it that day. 1 month later and no cheque! My husband called him and he said he had sent it a month ago. My husband insisted that he stop payment, reissue and send certified and that he would call back the next day for the tracking number. Norm agreed. Then, the next day he claims he doesn't have the money but will "get to it" (which is what i heard the first 3 months). We tried to get him to pay by credit card and he claimed not to have one. He first said he was the owner of the biz, then said he was only a manager, then said they were soon going out of business then threatened me with a multi-million dollar lawsuit!! this guy is some piece of work! He's a crook and he's now harrassing me with emails and phone calls! Don't let this be you!

There seems to be some confusion about which "Norm King" these Complaints are about.
My Name is Norman King and I live in Surrey, British Columbia. I don't know any of these people.
I am the "REAL" Norman King and I have certainly never had any business with nor ever dealt with any of these people in the complaints. It seems the last name KING is quite common.
There are over 3,000 listed in the Vancouver area phone book alone.
Please, Let's try to get our facts straight here people because you are messing with peoples professional reputations. Try to avoid any further confusion. You may be hurting completely innocent individuals like myself. I am a computer programmer not some scammer.

I own a place and rented it to Norm King. He is working fraudulently through the unique tenancy laws in BC. I wish I knew. He should be back in jail in my opinion. Do not rent to or from this man.

Fight back. He is an idiot a liar and a thief. Don't quit. Post information for others to share. Don't be scared of his stupid attempts to scare you away. Gewt your money back. There are many, many people he has robbed. He will continue if you do not help to stop him. Contact the Residential Tenancy Office in Vancouver. Ask them to apply Administrative penalties against him. He must be stopped.. There are many honest and good people on your side!
