That hospital is the worst. Ever since they opened up their new emergency room with the "Fast Track" which should be the "Slow Track" the service is the pits. Several people have gotten infections from getting stiches there. One person had to have their finger amputated because of an infection. He had went back and complained and they just sent him home. Turned out he had Gang Green (sp?). Many, Many more incidents. The new waiting room is huge because you spend so much time out there. It takes forever to be seen and the staff is very rude. When asked how long to be seen, all you get is "I have no idea" When asked how many patients are ahead of me, again "I have no idea" This is the answer to everything.

ER means ER, staffed with very good staff and they are worked very hard

The Er at North Arundel is staffed with very good staff and they are worked very hard. And the ER is for Emergencies. Yes I have been there several times with my grand children one with asthma (was seen on the spot) and another with a cut to the forhead. Yes we had to wait for the stitches but was he treated in turn. No one ever died for that little cut but it did need stitches. So What I am saying if you are not in need then you wait until the one that are in need are seen. If you don't have time go home

everyone uses it like a doctors office instead of going to one of the off-site trearment centers

It is very interesting that the person that was so upset didn't put their name on their comments. The fast track is a slow track because everyone uses it like a doctors office instead of going to one of the off-site trearment centers. It is also those very same people who complain and moan when they have to wait but triage takes patients of highest priority first. In case people haven't heard there is a nursing shortage out there and these types of people are the ones that make it difficult for those already in nursing and unattractive for those that aren't.I hope these people that think they know so much do because at this rate they will have to care for themselves. Society is for instant gratification and any time they have to wait for something they are rude and nasty. How would they like to be talked to in the manner that they address others? A little respect goes a long way.You give respect and you get respect.I have been a patient at North Arundel and had my family in the ER.I have waited just like everyone else.I don't think it was something to get upset about when someone said they didn't know. They were being honest. You can't time how long something is going to take because there are variables you just don't know about until they happen. The bottom line is if they think the job is so easy ,perhaps they should put their money where their mouth is and get a job in a hospital and see if they can "cut the mustard."Also something that wasn't addressed was whether this person followed the doctor's orders and did what they were told when they got home. There is responsibility on the part of the individual when they are released to follow instructions. You can't hold the hospital responsible if you are non-compliant.

Having been to this hospital several times with chest pain I have been fast tracked. When the problem is life threatening there is no problem. Yes other people are seen on a slower basis. How would you like to be a person with a heart attack or bleeding wound and hear "I am sorry but the person with a scratched finger got here first?" The ER does triage ... the team evaluates how critical the patient's need is and prioritizes on that basis. Last time I went in with chest pain they did not even bother to find out who I was first. Now that is impressive!! I was immediately given an EKG before they got any other information from me. Within 15 minutes I was on stabilizing medications. After the stitches, did the patient obey the instructions given on their dismissal papers?
