In Nov. of 2008 I had applied at North Hennepin Community College. I had attended school before back in the spring semester of 2007. I didn't do so well because I had dropped a class and when on financial aid you must complete the semester with 67% complete and a 2.0 GPA. I had the 2.0 but dropping that one class put me a little below the 67% complete and I was put on financial aid probation. So in the summer of 2007 I attended school full-time and work two jobs. At that time is was like suicide so I dropped a class. I was put on financial aid suspension however I appealed and it was granted that I can return back for the fall of 2007. I chose not to because it was just a little too much at the time. So I started at another school in the fall of 2008 and unfortunately I lost my job and I became homeless long story but I was literally riding the train all night sometimes with all my belongings, I slept in friends cars etc I had to withdraw from my classes because I couldn't continue to attend that school nor stay in a city where I had no help and nowhere to even sleep. I pulled myself together with the help from the lord and my parents.

I tried to go back to school. I really want to better myself and get my degree in nursing. I applied at NHCC in November. 2008 I never heard I word from them until December. When I did hear from them it was an acceptance letter and a Checklist of documents I need to bring into to them to such as tax papers and transcripts. I started sending papers in December (I take online classes) a month later I get another letter stating that they never received my info. I fax it this time and on the cover letter I wrote my phone number and asked that I be called once they received the fax. Never got the call. So I called in and I asked if they had received the papers. A very rude receptionist told me yes and that everything is fine.

Well things were fine for a while I had registered for my classes and I was excited. I only work part-time so I couldn't afford to pay for school so I was waiting for the day I can go charge my books. When that day comes I go to the book store and I'm not able to get my books and I'm told to go talk to the financial aid office. When I get there they told me that the still needed my tax papers and transcripts. I asked them how this could be. I was unable to register until I turned in the papers and I had clearly done so because I have a schedule. They told me to just turn the papers in so I did so for about two weeks. Every time I turned in a paper I would ask was this the form you needed. I'm told yes and two weeks later I get another paper saying that there was a mistake on my fafsa and that it needed to be corrected and I may be put on financial aid suspension. I go to the office personally and bring the letter. I was told that yes indeed I was on suspension but it was only because I needed to correct my fafsa this was on February 17, 2008.

So I did so and I'm still taking the online classes without a book. I call that Monday to ask if my status had been changed I was rudely told know you are on suspension. I asked why they told me they couldn't tell me over the phone and that they would send a letter. When I got the letter 2 weeks later I flipped out. It was because of two terms of incompletion. I mean what the hell I was told to talk to Jackie Olson she refuses to talk to me. I asked them how they could let me go on for this long. They were well aware that it was no way a can possibly pay for the expense out of my pocket. So wasn't I told this in December? A guy name Eric told me that they hadn't reviewed my application until Feb. and that they do have the right to refuse me. I told him I wanted to appeal. I filed the appeal the appeal was denied. I talk to my advisor and he told me it's a bunch of BS and to file a grievance with the department of education. Well I called Mr. Jim B. Jackie Olson and this Eric clown to get the information on how to file a grievance and a complaint to the department of Education Minnesota and no one has called me back and when I call them all I get is a voicemail.

Now don't get me wrong I know that I have made mistakes in the past but, my mistake was clearly biting off more than I can chew and we have all done this from time to time but, I feel if they were going to do this they should've told me in November or just not have accepted me to the college.
