BUYERS BEWARE OF NORTHRIDGE TOYOTAS DECEPTIVE SALES PRACTICES AND FRAUD

Juan Lujan was my sales rep. Apparently he doesn't work there anymore. I can only guess why.

Everything seemed so good when I first went in. I purchased a new car for myself and referred my Mom to this place. When she went in things seemed to go well with her as well. Except they said that her credit wasn't good enough to get the car at the low payment she wanted. They asked if I would co-sign and I explained that I love my Mom but I have never co-signed for anyone and that's how I kept my A+ credit. They convinced me to "co-sign" because of course she's my Mom and I would do anything for my Moms...

Problem is that they lied straight to my and my Mom's faces. They said I was co-signing...but cone to find out, I was the MAIN signer on the account and my Mom was put as the co-signer.

I texted Juan and asked him to fix the "mistake" but after a month of trying to get a hold of the guy or any of his managers, he calls me and tells me it wasn't a "Mistake ". That that's what his managers coached him to say in order to make the sale. That they say it all the time to their customers in order to make sales. This is FRAUD at its finest. I called Toyota corporate and they took your complaint and said a manager from this location would call me in a few days. It's been more than a week now and no call.

I had four other people to refer for new cars... I won't be referring anyone now.. My Mom was getting this car to build her credit but her being the co-signer has no value to anyone's credit. And now it looks like I purchase 2 new cars on my credit which lowered my score

The worse part about this is that I know the car buying game because I've purchased so many cars before and have friends in finance and sales at other dealers...and it's so crazy to me that there's different prices for the same car for different customers...when we were sitting there, they knew I knew my stuff..and because of that they felt comfortable enough to joke about an Asian man and lady getting screwed on her deal.. $5000.00 more than what part paid for the car and how their sticking the extended warranty package at full price...DISGUSTING! DO these people not have families of their own? Do they want their Mom, sisters brothers or Dad's to get ripped off? How can you go home and sleep well after ripping people off.

If I could give this place a negative star I would. Who lies to their customers to get sales? I mean I know lots of people do but someone as big as Toyota? This is disgusting and unacceptable.

BUYERS BEWARE OF THEIR FRAUD

So I called corporate to see if they can do anything about the fraud that's taking place at this dealership. They said a Maria Serrano would call me soon.

A month later and still no call.

Finally after I try to contact her every day for a week she calls.

She tells me that since I signed the documents there's nothing they will do for me. So I told her that although her employees lied to me and told me I'd be the "co-signer" on my Mom's car that they're ok with that? She basically told me I'm screwed.

It is complete FRAUD what they're doing here...and they could care less that their employees are saying a person is going to be a "co-signer" when the end result is them being the main signer on the account.

So according to Maria Serrano and all of Northridge Toyota, they can sell you a dream and promise you everything....and you can put your trust in them them that they're not lying...but if you sign the paperwork you're screwed. To the FTC that's FRAUD and is illegal in the state of California.

Maria Serrano said that their meaning of "co-signer" is that the person "co-signing" will be the main signer and the other person will be the co-signer. Why would I need a co-signer if my credit is fine. She apologized that theu didn't explain it better but offered nothing to make things better..NOTHING!

BUYERS BEWARE OF NORTHRIDGE TOYOTAS DECEPTIVE SALES PRACTICES AND FRAUD.

I will NEVER go back there again after buying 3 cars from there nor will I ever refer anyone.

And if something isn't done quick about their fraud I will make sure it gets exposed on all the media outlets I can.

BUYER BEWARE OF THEIR FRAUD!

Not at all how it happened. I've purchased 3 vehicle with no hiccups so I had a trust factor. Same exact finance guy and same sales personal and manager as the last purchase. So what you're saying is that it's ok for dealers to promise anything they want even if it's a lie and if you sign the paperwork that's not fraud? For some reason I beleive you work for this dealer. Sounds just like one of them.

You come here to this worldwide website to do the following...You go to this store and decide to buy this particular car.  They offer you something to recommend another customer, which you do, YOUR MOTHER.  You and Mother come back and she buys a car.  As a son, one must conclude you have Mother's best interests in mind and you co-sign the loan with reservations.  During the sales process, you as the co-signer were presented with a contract to sign as well as Mother signing the same contract.  However, instead of looking out for Mother's interests, incredibly YOU DON'T EVEN READ WHAT YOU ARE SIGNING!!!  Who knows what other extra's were in that contract which YOU obligated Mother to because YOU didn't even bother to read what was being signed!  Again...absolutely incredible!  You come here now to blast the dealer when YOU could have applied a thimble full of COMMON SENSE by READING what you were signing.  Did they scam Mother?  Maybe.  However, it was ALL in YOUR power to prevent that!

NO RIPOFF HERE--Complainer chose to NOT read contract before signing said contract.

Your information about co-signing is not complete

First, I don't work for this dealership or any other dealership.

Take some time to research co-signing. I think the dealership mislead you anyway, but you have a fundamental misunderstanding of co-signing.  And, the dealership explanation is also not correct.

When a lender wants a co-signer they are actually increasing their chances of recovery in case of default.  In your case, with your excellent score, they were making sure that the loan was repaid knowing that you wouldn't risk your score.

The long and short of it is this:  every signer on the loan has the 100% responsibility for repayment of the loan no matter who's name appears first.  If your Mom were to default on the loan, the lender can choose to come after you for 100% repayment because that is what you agreed to when you co-signed.  If you look at the loan, there is usually a phrase that reads (paraphrased here):  the borrowers are jointly and severely responsible for repayment of the loan.  That means the lender can come after one of you or both of you for the full repayment. They can't collect twice - but they can make an equal claim against you both or against either one of you.

The key part in this is that it doesn't matter which name goes first except that it may affect the interest rate given to the borrower.

Don't take my word for it. Read all about co-signing on the web at legitimate websites so you have a complete understanding.

PS I still doesn't make it right what the dealership did to you, though - because they were lying about it.
