Chartwell Funding/Financial. They "approved" me for a $5000 loan at 11% interest (Because I have bad credit) and they wanted $450 as a deposit for insurance or in case I got injured or was late making a payment. I felt that it was a scam and called them and asked why they were asking me for the deposit and if it could be deducted from the money they "approved" and the lady couldn't answer it other than saying that they needed the $450 deposit. I continued telling her to deduct it from the money they were going to give me and that instead of giving me $5000 to give me $4550 and she kept refusing. I also told her that I checked the company on the BBB site like they mention on their homepage that they are listed on the BBB. So I did check and they do not have good reviews. I told her that and asked her why put something indicating that you have good rating and when fact you do not have a good rating. She said, "we donot pay to advertise on the BBB'. So why mention it on the page? Another thing was that according to the BBB that company is out of Canada and that they laws in Canada prohibits companies requesting a deposit on a loan. They are operating illegaly!!!! Good thing I didn't send them any money.

You got scammed. No legitemate lender would require a payment from you to secure a loan. Kiss that $400 goodbye...it's probably in Nigeria now. Weren't you suspicious about an e-mail that came to you out of the blue?
