Complaint Review: Novum Homes - Sandy Utah

My name is Marco Diaz, I am the owner of Pantheon Construction and decided to write to set the record straight regarding a complaint we received from a client late last year and which later was closed by the client on January 23rd of this year. If you look at post #2 you will see that the client tried to have this review taken down but this venue does not allow you to remove it at all unless you pay them a significant amount of money to do so. In our case it is close to $9K they want for one complaint and if we pay them they will write positive things about our company.

So if you look at complaint #2 you will read the following from the person who submitted the original complaint:

“I was contacted by the owner of Pantheon Construction this evening and we were able to talk through a number of our concerns, so that I was left with the impression that a sincere effort had been given to hear and understand them.

The owner of Pantheon Construction verified that at some point during the building of our home, oversite of the build was re-assigned to Novum Construction, but that our contractual agreement continued with Pantheon. Consequently, and to re-iterate our last addendum to the original posting, any referrences in the original posting made to guarantees made by Novum Homes should be disregarded (see full explanation in first addendum).

As Ripoff Report does not allow for the editing or removal of original posting, this is the only manner in which I am able to declare our complaint closed." 

As a building company we try our very best to meet our clients expectation regarding the quality, budget and timeframe. It is our goal to provide our clients with a positive experience. We do not always get it right but we try and when we don’t; we make it right.  With so many moving parts in building a home it is not always easy to get it 100% right, 100% of the time.  However we are confident that we our honest with our clients, provide a good quality home and have never made one cent more than what we have agreed with our clients.

In this case there were a couple areas the our client felt that we had not estimated accurately and therefore they ONLY got $71K in EQUITY instead of the approx.$84k of equity they thought they were going to get. Much of that difference was due to site related dirt cost that were due to the positioning of the home which was in fact higher than what we had estimated, but it was because at the time of creating the budget we assumed differently where the home was to be positioned. I realize that the higher the equity the better but having $71K of equity especially in this environment is very good.

The owner and I had a good conversation where we acknowledged where expectations and conversations could have been clearer. They are good people, we simply had a few misunderstandings, they gave us good feedback and we have implanted them to run a better company. I also explained the relationship now between Pantheon Construction and Novum Homes and he felt comfortable enough to decide to pull his complaint, but unfortunately Rip Off Report does NOT allow you to do so.

As for my relationship with Novum Homes I want to make sure it is clear. Ryan Snow and I were business partners, even though we agreed in our business philosophy as at time business partners do we did not always agree on the implementation of the company’s strategy. We decided that Ryan would focus on the custom home building and I would pursue commercial building.  We decided that we could still help one another out and that we worked better when each of us had our own companies. We still collaborate together but we are no longer partners.

I hope this provides more clarity to this issue, we are confident that we have a good business model, that it provides our clients with a good quality home and a good prices and that we do show integrity in our business practice.

I hope you will at least take the time to meet with us to look us in the eye and see the kind of people we are. Building a home is a very important undertaking and you need to feel comfortable with your builder. 

I am afraid the owner of Novum homes is not being honest. I saw a fb post by the owner of Pantheon Homes (Marcos Diaz) on his personal fb account. He was showing off a home he recently completed.  His title listed on fb is CEO of Panteon Construction. Another person commented that they would like more info and he posted a link to the website of Novum Homes.  I thought that was a bit odd so I decided to investigate a bit. That is when I found this report. I have screen shots of the comments along with the address of the home. I have uploaded them for review Also if you look at the Web site of Pantheon Homes and Novum Homes they are exactly the same. These two men appear to still be in bussiness together...just changed the company name!

This person as stated in his own comments was a customer of Pantheon Construction and not Novum Homes. The person had hired Pantheon construction to build a custom home for them in November of 2012. At that time I worked for Pantheon Construction as an employee. I had been and employee of Pantheon for three years. 

For the very reasons listed in the complaint I chose to leave Pantheon Construction and start my own company in February of 2013. I was tired of having to deal with the consequences of the business practices of Pantheon Construction and its owner. 

Even though I decided to start my own company in February I felt obligated to by boss to help him finish several of the homes that were already started. So I continued to manage the project of the person who has filed this report as a part time employee of Pantheon.

Novum Homes never was contracted by this person nor were they even in business when this person started building their home.

I do not feel that it is either fair nor legal for them to place a report about my company becuase of the experience they had with another company. Yes I helped work on their home but I was limited in what I could do by the owner of the company that I was working for.

I have been in business for 9 months now and have had several completed projects with Happy customers.

I would like this report removed as it constitutes defamation since this person never has had any business dealings with my company at all. They need to rewrite their report about Pantheon Construction and leave any mention of Novum Homes out of it. 

We were recently notified by Ryan Snow, previously of Pantheon Homes, that he is currently the sole owner of Novum Homes, and that he no longer has any affiliation with Pantheon Homes. Mr. Snow and his prior business partner, Marco Diaz, reportedly had a separation during the build of our home, and as part of that their separation agreement, it was agreed that Novum Homes would oversee the rest of our build. This arrangement, nor the relationship between the two companies, was every divulged to our family until we received Mr. Snow’s e-mail yesterday with a request to remove references to his company in our complaint. During the build, we were simply directed to begin using Mr. Snow’s new Novum Homes e-mail address. Given the fact that both companies have been using the same office space, address and phone number on their website, and no official notification had been given to us, it was an honest misunderstanding and we are happy to post this addendum to our original comment. We do, however, stand by our opinions regarding the work and customer service experience that we had with both Pantheon Homes and Novum Homes.
