Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
In addition to the 3 posts above this one, I have had a sketchy experience with NWDC llc, and am just glad I got out before orientation. I am truly sorry to you who didn't. I replied to a craigslist add because the pay seemed good, even though the add was really vague about the job description. I really need work so I drove out to Gresham to check it out. The location has no sign outside, and the office looks like it could have been whipped together in a day. I filled out an application that asked for an unreasonable amount of info (RED FLAG!) my ssn, dob, full name, drivers license #, license plate # and type of car. I had my interview and felt uneasy because Steve was talking really fast and remaining really vague about the company. I tried to slow him down and explain more about the company and what I'd be doing. He explained i'd be doing sales but only for 60 days when I'd be moved to a manager track...RED FLAG. that seemed strange. So, I explained I wanted a lot of info from him because craigslist can be sketchy and I wanted to make sure I am dealing with a legit company. He went off about how I shouldn't believe all the negative things I read online...RED FLAG...I hadn't read anything negative online, I was just asking...if it was indeed a legit company he could have brushed that question right off. I got out of the interview and called a friend to look them up online, and of course all these ripoff reports came up. So, I attempted to get my information back. He insisted he had already run the information and I could not have it back due to a policy with the ADP background check company. I called ADP and they have no such policy. Now they have my info and I can't get it back, which worries me. Do not apply for a job with them, apparently if you get the job you will not be paid anyway

#2UPDATE EX-employee responds

well  what can i say i wish i would have read the reviews sooner and never have gone to the  orientation, I was brought in the same way through craigslist for costumer service with a good weekly salary as a father trying support a family i called and was asked some questions next thing i know im on my way for an interview days later i was in an orientation with another staff and then the company owner same thing no real education never really worked but is now wealthy off a kirby vaccum that is priced five times its real value. the owner started to amp everyones mind with prizes including cars expensive watches and all payed trips.

After training/orientation was done one of their employees rushed us through some paperwork and we signed hardly getting a chance to peak at it and that was that. soon we started taking the vaccum home to practice showing the vaccum to our friends and family, witch was never practice it was an actual attemp to sale witch includes pressuring family and friends to the point where they just want you to leave. After all that was over i began to learn ways to get people to see the demo in their homes and how to get their numbers i didnt agree with their methods but for the short time i was with them i sold a kirby but i have not seen the money for it yet

and after trying to get them on the phone for a while i figured they recongnize my number and avoid answer my calls beware of those ads on craigslist with high salarys one way to tell if its a scam like this kirby destributor is when you call and ask about the job they dont answer you question instead they ask you questions and ask when you can come in for an interview if you do happen to fall in this scam like myself  and dont get paid talk to a lawyer or report it to the state attorny general. FYI im not against kirby vaccums im against dishonest manipulating sneaky buisness "men"scaming people who work hard for a living. PS samantha is part of this scam as well

#3REBUTTAL Owner of company

Tue, August 13, 2013

The person posting the glowing review of their time working at Kirby is, I've no doubt, the owner described in the post.  I wasted my time there for three days until I finally came around to the scam it is.  The owner was a used car salesman in a more expensive suit.  The speech he gave on the first day of orientation and the speech given in the "positive" post above are almost verbatim.  Do not believe anything positive about this company, they are frauds.  After I quit, they began calling the people I had listed as my emergency contact and my references trying to sell them vacuum cleaners.  I should have walked out during the first five minutes of orientation like 4 other people.  During the initial interview I was told it was an over the phone customer support job, others a warehouse job and another a job taking phone orders. Scam, scam, scam.  Do not apply to the add on Craig's list and do not give them any information.

This company is still posting on craigslist.  They have a huge turn-over, and it's no wonder as to why.  They don't seem to want to be up front about anything.  I've seen this ad posted on and off for over a year.  I for one, am not lazy.  But I also won't go door-to-door...not in this day and age when you don't know who might be on the other end of the door.  Plus that, I'm getting up there in age, and although I need to work, I'm not ready to be taken advantage of.  Craigslist is full of these kind of jobs...just be wary when answering the ads.

Also...the address given of 1124 NE Burnside is a bogus address.  It's an address associated with Beds West, a company that sells bedroom sets and mattresses.  It's been there for years, and I'm not sure why this address is on all the ads.  There is no affiliation with Kirby cleaners in any way.

So yes...this is a scam ad.  There's no way anyone will make $1600 per month.  And you only get that if you sell the vacuums.  There is no base pay.  It's all commission.  With this economy, good luck with that.

I started working for NWDC in September 2010, I was surprised when I found out it was Kirby but I definitely wasn't upset. I mean come on if the ad said "now hiring for Kirby vacuum sales men and women!!" How many unemployed people would really respond? I understand not having the name in the ad, however you are informed right in the interview where at that time you can make ur decision.

I personally grew up with a Kirby so I already knew the product and how amazing it is. I remembered the demo from when I was a kid. So I also knew what the job description was and was very interest. It looked like alot of fun when I remembered back.

So I came in for the orientation, which I did not mind that it was unpaid, I have yet to atend a paid orientation so that didn't give me a red flag. What gave me a red flag was meeting the owner on the first day and listening to him speak. A man with no former real education and Kirby being his first and only job becoming a wealthy man that can have his own business, own a few houses, and take care of a family off of Kirby. Red flag!

I stepped back thinking "humm I graduated and went to college, I can do this. I've always wanted my own company anyways." Not once did he imply that this was a get rich quick program, or that not a lot of time, energy, or effort needs to be put in. In fact he stated the complete opposite. He put in countless long hours, days of work, commitments, and efforts. I went all in, and since day one I have never felt like I've been lied to or steered wrong. This comany has done nothing but brighten up my future and promote me to running my own office out in SE Portland. Life with Kirby has been great, the company took me on 2 ALL EXPENSE paid trips which were both amazing!

The reality of this is that most people don't want to really work hard for something, let alone a career. We live in America and most of us are lazy and spoiled. It takes time effort and commitment and become financially independent, and the majority of or unemployed population is UNWILLING. Hense the high unemployment rate. It will continue that high until these people pull there head out there butt and get with the program. It's not hard. It's just work. just do it like Nike and you'll go far. If not then stay in the same boat with your complaints.
