A group calling themselves the "NYC Fashion Group" emailed me in November after seeing my online portfolio on One Model Place, and said they wanted me to come in for a casting for an editorial magazine. I called to schedule my appointment and when I got there, they started selling me photography packages from $500-$700. I told them I didnt have money to pay for a shoot but they kept calling me. Finally, the photographer, "Seth Sabal", called me directly and told me not to worry about the money and he'd shoot me for free. Since it was free, I agreed to do the shoot.
He told me that I'd get one 9x12 for free after the session, and that I could get more if I wanted. I also had to sign a release in case he wanted to use my images. When I went back to go over the pictures, a member of the Fashion Group told me that since I didnt pay for my photo shoot, I'd have to pay $100 for EACH picture. She filled out an order form for six photos and told me I have to pay a total of $655 (with tax) to get the six photos! I later called them and told them I felt $100 for a single photo was way too excessive and that I'd be willing to pay a lower amount that was more reasonable. The photographer refused to negotiate and even threatened to sue me if I didn't pay the full $655 that same day! What they were really trying to do was makeup money from the free photoshoot.
All I wanted (and still want) were my photos at a reasonable price, but they wont give me anything. I signed away a release form allowing him to use my images, but I've received nothing in return. I haven't received the free photo they said I would get, and they won't even give me the contact sheets!! They won't let me pay a more reasonable price for the photos. Charging $100 for a picture is completely ridiculous, as most photos go for around $20-$30. I wasted a whole day doing the shoot, and they won't give me anything in return. They completely misrepresented themselves as casting directors for an editorial magazine, and now are wrongfully withholding my photos. They are completely unprofessional as well as deceptive, and everyone out there should know this.
P.S. They now have a new website that was created after this incident (in late January), and were even using my images on their site. They also are claiming on their new website to charge every model $70 - $100 for additional photos, but that's after giving each model 5-8 retouched photos in each photography package. In my case, I haven't received ANY of my images. Regardless, such prices for an individual photo are completely unconscionable.

Yes, they did mislead me when they initially contacted me on OMP for a photoshoot. Then wehn I called them, they told me it was actually to make a portfolio. My sister who is also model told me that for a full portfolio only having to worry about shoes and bringing myself, the price I pad was phenomenal. So I went. I had an awesome time! The staff was so professional and courteous. They were also very positive. They even tried to force me to eat all day. Hahaha! But I had a great time with NYC Fashion group. I had such a great experience that I was referring people to them for about 4 months after. I got a free picture because of my referral too. Hunny, I think you didn't know what you were getting into. Pay attention next time before you sign a contract! -Pascal

Hello my name is Eddie Waters, I am a model in Milan, I recently was in the fashion week mens shows in Milan, and have to say if it was not for the NYC Fashion group and specifically Maika; I would not be a model. I was totally struggling in NYC when I met them. They changed my life and I will always owe them, that is why I am writing this letter. To assure anyone that reads this that this person claiming these bad things is a BIG Lier!! They would never obligate anyone to buy anything and they are really good hearted people that would even give the photos to a deserving model...
Before I met them I was working with amateurs and was very skeptical about paying money for photos, they worked out a payment plan for me over 7 WEEKS!!! It was the best investment I have ever done for myself. They were the best pictures that anybody ever did for me, as soon as I got them, an agency here in Milan took interest in me and I signed a contract with them.
Literally the next day at a go see, I was booked for a 12,300.00 euro job shooting catalog for Neiman Marcus. I want to tell everyone that reads this statement, the NYC Fashion Group are the most professional and committed people to helping us models get our goals that are out there... I think this model is more than likely linked to bad people or jealous photographers.
This is a crazy industry and I know that they are legit people and deserve what ever they charge!!!

I personally have worked with NYC Fashion group, and found these people to be absolute great. I am honestly surprised at this persons statements. I honestly do not believe that NYC Fashion Group would ever do such a thing to anyone.
I have seen the books they shoot for models all over the city and they honestly are some of the best in the city.
I really think that since this model didn't put her name, she is more than likely a photographer or just a bad person, that is more than likely is filing a bad complaint because he or she is someone that is not committed to paying for professionals.
In comment to what this person said about 100.00 being allot for a print, I think that cheap considering the work that New York City Fashion Group does. You can view my photos at the NYC Fashion Groups website under models of the month in March. I am from IMG Models in NYC.

This person is lying.
Enclosed is her order which she signed. We did not obligate her order for 651.75.
She is currently be sued for 5000.00 in court for damages to our names, and for not paying for services rendered.
Her claim that we gave her the session free is true, it included one free image and the reason we did not cancel her shoot is frankly, because the makeup artist and clothing was already programmed for her shoot; She attempted to cancel the night before her shoot. I choose to take the session as a loss in order to be responsible to our commitments with the other people involved on the shoot. (Which here paid for their services)
Upon seeing her contact sheets, she placed an extra print order, NOT us. She was well aware of the price and what she owed. Unfortunately, she has made a poor judgment mistake for filing this frivolous and deceptive report against us.
