Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
Saturday, June 9, 2007, approximately 4:00pm ET, my husband called OC Welch Ford/Mercury about 2004 Ford F150 they had advertised on website. Spoke to Antwon (spelling?). Antwon told him that the truck was still available. My husband told him that we lived about an hour away and that we would be there shortly to test drive truck.

When we arrived approximately one hour later, Antwon was not available, but another salesman called him on his cell phone. Antwon was in the other part of the dealership in the building where they sold new cars, but told the other salesman that he could help us. Well, it turns out that the particular truck had been sold earlier in the day. At least that's what they said. I was pissed.

The only reason we had driven all that way was because Antwon (whom we never actually met in person, was he hiding from us?) told us that we could test drive that truck. This other salesman told us that he was busy with another customer, but that he would find another salesman to help us find another vehicle we may be interested in.

We saw a Dodge truck that we might be interested in at a price we were willing to pay. Unfortunately, that one was in the process of being written up at that time and in effect was sold. Before this salesman could open up his mouth to try to get us into something that we didn't want, I told him that we weren't interested in doing business with them because it seems that we were the subject of a "Bait and Switch scam".

We left and went across the street to the Chrysler dealership where we were treated fairly and with respect by the staff there. Though we weren't able to close a deal at the time, we were satisfied with the way we were treated there.

Needless to say, I will never go back to that dealership, nor will I ever recommend them to anyone. I would go so far as to tell anyone who may be in the market for a new or used vehicle NOT to go to that particular dealership.

#2Consumer Suggestion

Denise: Every once in a while someone comes along who doesn't throw common sense out the window when it comes to buying a stupid car. And then there are tons and tons of people who willingly play doormat, sucker or chump and whine they were ripped off and can't understand why but then get upset when someone points out the obvious cause. Worse yet are the doormats who will sign anything without reading and then cry they were ripped off when they get home and read what they got into. Incredible, isn't it? But you Denise, responded in EXACTLY the right way by WALKING OUT! It was perfect! Be well!
