Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc ODFL Frieght company damages shipment, refuses to pay out claim Thomasville North Carolina
The company is a freight carrier, which damaged my package while it was in their care and is refusing to complete a claim for said damage. I purchased an industrial embroidery machine on eBay and it was delivered in December. I spent some time trying to get the machine to work, but the thread kept getting stuck and damaging the item being embroidered. I determined the cause was bent shafts where the thread is looped for proper tension during the embroidery process. I filed a claim for damage on 12/27/2015. I did not get a reply so I called and emailed several times over the next couple of months. After waiting for several months, I emailed again and threatened a law suit for not filing my claim. It wasn't until I made mention of suing that I finally received a response. In turn, my claim was denied as they stated that it was not filed in a timely manner. The claim form states that I have 9 months for file a claim and I did so within the same month of the delivery. I was then told that they did not have pictures of the damage so they could not continue with the investigation. I had emailed multiple pictures on multiple occasions. After I informed them of this, I did not hear back for some time. I emailed again, waited two weeks, emailed again, waited two weeks, and finally got a response. The damaged claim was for $2000+ and they offered $500. I informed this was unacceptable as I am out $1500+ for their neglect. Several weeks more and I emailed them back, only for them to say that they were not going to do anything else. So in recap, ODFL shipped my package, damaged it, and is refusing to file a claim for the damage.
In order to finish this claim to a resolution, I am requesting that Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. of Thomasville, NC 27360 pay me for the damages in the amount of $2,058.31 USD.
