I took a loan from Springleaf, years ago, with an agreement to pay back in installments of 135 dollars per month. Thorugh the years, I went on paying "religiously" every single month on the due date, and never once delayed a payment. In February, this year, I went through a financial hardship. Since my remaining balance to pay was small, and One Main was always sending me emails offering a new loan, I applied for a new loan with them (that would pay off the remaining balance and get me into a new loan). Someone from the Branch called me. Upon calling me, they confirmed my information, and I mentioned that I was starting a new job. They took note of the company I mentioned that I was about to start working for. After all the conversation, they denied my application because I was staring a new job and still didn't have payment slips from that job. Fair enough, I just had to continue paying my current loan. Later on, for the first time ever, I delayed a payment. They called me, and I said that I was struggling to get my payment up to date. They then asked me if I wasn't in the company I had said I was going to work for when I applied for the new loan. In other words, they used the information that I had given them when I applied for a new loan to harass me about my current loan past due. I was upset with that, and I spoke to the manager. the manager said they would not call me anymore. One month passed by, and I became past due for a second month consecutively. Throughout that time, I kept receiving emails and letters in the mail telling me to contact them, as there were options for me. That being, said, I contacted them to see what my options were. At that point, they said my options would be to defer those two payment, but to defer I would have to pay them almost the same as if I was payint the two installments that were past due. I said I was going to think about it and call them later. Perhaps, I decided not to call and make an effort to pay all that was past due at once three days from that date (May 26), by simply going online and making the payment. A few hours later, they call me (even though the manager had previously said that they would not call me), with an intimidating tone of voice, trying to convince me that I had to pay because this was going to collections. They wanted to pressure me to pay for deferring because then I would be paying almost the same I owned for continue owing the same (smart intimidating people). Three days passed by, and I made the payment for the two past due installments, coming up to date in my payments, After that, I called, spoke to the manager, and asked if I was 'OK" in my account and if their calls, email, and mailing letters would stop, for which she said yes. However, I kept receiving emails from them saying that I am delinquent and I have options. Conclusion: this is one of the most unfair, arrogant, intimidating, annoying, harassing financial companies to get a loan from. Hopefully, I will pay off my loan with them within the next couple months, and will NEVER EVER again want to hear about them. I hope wveryone stays away from this company.
