I made a purchase from Tiger Direct in June 2006. I jumped through all the hoops, and submitted the information required for my rebate of $50.

All went as smoothly as I could have hoped for... applied for and received confirmation via email on July 17, 2006. I mailed everything, and according to OnRebates web sight, the rebate was accepted on July 26, 2006.

I waited until March 12, 2007, and finally called the toll free number listed on the web sight. I spoke to "Ron", who assured me my "file" was being sent to his supervisors desk, and a payment would be in the mail to me on March 16.

On April 5, 2007, (still no payment) I spoke with "Mike", who proceeded to apologize for the delay, stating there had been a "glitch" in their computer system, and all information had been lost. But he assured me they did have record of my rebate having been accepted (in July 06), and a check would be in the mail in 7 to 10 business days. I insisted on speaking to a manager, and was told I would be contacted ASAP by management.

On April 6, 2007 I received a call from Niki Thomas, customer service manager, and she also assured me that my check would be in the mail in 7 to 10 business days.

On May 21, 2007 (now ten months since my rebate was initially accepted), I spoke with "Shawn" in customer service, who said she would "see about having a check sent out sometime this week". I ask why it had not been sent in April, as I was told by Niki, and she just apologized and said she would see that it was sent out by Thursday this week. I asked her for a specific date, and she would only say, sometime this week.

I am once again waiting for a call from Niki.

Ten months and counting. I will call everyday from here on out, until I get my check. And I will never again buy any product from any store offering a mail in rebate. Mail in rebates will soon be a thing of the past. BestBuy has already started doing away with the mail in rebate and is now offering instant rebates.

So to Niki, Ron, Mike and Shawn at OnRebate.com. start looking for new jobs!
