I purchased an airline ticket, roundtrip via orbitz on Oct. 19th, 2013 along with insurance to cover any possible issues. I have learned throughout my years to read fine print regardless of business reputation. The flight was to depart on Sat. Oct 26 at 8am from denver to mexico city, where I was teaching a yoga retreat beginning Monday afternoon (Oct.28th)

As my life seems to be a giant pool of terrible misfortune, my 3 year old son had the scariest asthma attack ever witnessed that night. My husband and I were scared to death and ended up in the era late Saturday night. The pediatrician suggested we keep him at the facility until Sunday afternoon. The entire experience was frightening enough but on top of everything, my husband is in the middle of opening a brand new 8 million dollar restaurant which gives him no time to be at home in the next month.

I called orbitz to review my options,comfortably knowing I had purchased the insurance and read the fine print. Boy, was I wrong.after holding for 36 minutes and speaking with 2 employees a supervisor and the affiliated insurance contact the only option was to pay nearly 500$ to change my ticket. Not only did they fail to record my insurance but they spawned me off to the airline directly. Three times! I decided, since I needed to be here for my son and they claim to refund documented medical emergencies.I decided that I could spend an extra 250$ on a one way flight leaving Monday and not have to pay the absurd 466$ change fee and keep orbitz itinerary and return flight to be home for kiddos on Halloween.

They cancelled my entire flight without any notification or refund! Nothing at all. I am not rich. I haven't left colorado for almost a decade! I surely don't have an additional 500$ laying around for a 30$ change do to an emergency. I am livid. Probably going to lose my job and too broke to get there. This is complete fraud. Even the fine print.
