If they continue threatening you with bodily harm...which is against federal law, do the following when they call: Tell them: This is to inform you that this phone call is being recorded...pursuant to state law this is your official notification. If you do not wish to be recorded please hang up. Continuing with this conversation after being informed that you are being recorded implies consent to tape record. This recording might be used against you. Never record a phone call without informing them of this fact...It's against the law to do this. You can also mail them, via Registered Mail and return receipt, a Cease Communications letter. See this link: http://www.budhibbs.com/cease_comm.htm Now, if you have a large amount of debt that is fairly recent and within the statue of limitations...you need to be careful about sending a cease communications letter as this might trigger their attempting to get a judgment against you.
