I was in the market to buy a Ford Mustang and wanted very specific colors and specs. I went to the Alexandria Ford dealership thinking they would have access to a large selection of possible vehicles.  They did not have the exact car I was looking for so the sales agent said he would call around other dealers to see if he could find the car I wanted. He found the exact model I wanted so I went to the dealership to negotiate the sale.

This was the most sterotypically sleazy car negotiation I have ever witnessed in person or even on TV in a bad movie.  I was trading in a used car as part of the sale.  The sales agent pawned me off the the sales "manager" to negotiate the deal.  The price he originally quoted me for the trade in was 9,000$ for my trade in ( A five year old Accura worth 15,000 on a conservative estimate from Kelly Blue Book under the setting of "What you should get for your Accura in a trade in" section). This 9,000$ price was so absurdely low I laughed out loud and was packing my stuff to leave.  The sales "manager" then began an hours long song and dance useing every concievablely stupid method that hit every sterotype of how to guilt or manipulate an under educated customer into accepting a bad deal. He stated my car was in terrible condition, scratches on the paint, needs new tires (All 4 tires were repalced a year before) etc.....  I knew I was being duped and left the dealer ship.  On my way home I was called by the sales agent who stated they were prepared to meet my offer. I went back and agreed on a low but acceptible price for the trade in (12,000$).  While reviewing the sale contract I notice they slipped in a charge for an extra 900$ shipping charge they didn't tell me about. When I questioned this they said this was for "Shipping the car from the other dealership".

I next met with the Credit agent.  She tried to hurry me through the numbers in a whirlwind and tried to get me to buy extra warrenties.  When I told her to slow down and asked her what the intrest rate for the fincancing was she told me 4.8% on a five year note.  I again was surprised at how corrupt this place was. I insisted to get nothing more 1.9% at worst.  The sales "manager" again went into another song and dance and then proceeded to tell me my credit was less than perfect.  I finially left the dealership laughing at how stupid they thought I was.

Within two weeks I ended up buying the same exact car at another dealership (Winchester Va Ford). The trade in for the Accura was 14,000$, the intrest rate was 0.9% for a five year loan,  I got 1750$ off of the sticker price of the car, and they didnt carge me one cent to have the car shipped from an out of state dealership to get me the car I wanted. The Winchester dealership credit report score for me was 750 (one hundred points higher that the supposed score the the Ourisman ford credit score showed). I saved over 5,000$ by going elsewhere....

The over all attitute and flow of the Ourisman sales department clearly showed they are used to praying upon unsuspecting, uninformed costomers and are willing to use every sleaze tactic to take your hard earned money.  They also openly lied to me about my credit score or chose to use the lowest of the three scores they obtained.  Because I was being cheated on every level of the sale, from the price of the car, the trade in, hidden fees slipped into the deal, financing, and aggresive warrenty sales, I feel that this is a coordinated effort by the entire dealership and not just individuals that work there.

The phrase "Buyer Beware" does not do this place justice.

I had a similar experience with this dealership.  I had a verbal agreement with the sales associate, but when the sales manager Eric brought me back to sign the papers (4+ hours into the deal) the terms of the lease changed dramatically.  The final straw was him adding $500.00 to the agreed upon out of pocket money down.  At that point I walked out not before letting Eric know what I thought about his tactics.  Really low rent, JV operation.  Did not treat me well at all.  The funniest part is that the sales asscociate, who was obviously upset he just lost a sale, caught up with me outside the showroom to tell me that this was not the first time Eric did this to one of his deals.  He lost several others because of the same bait and switch tactic by the sales manager Eric.  Again, low rent dealership.  Avoid these guys at all costs.

Read this report folks.

If they start playing stupid dealer games, just laugh and walk out.  Works every time. I have been screwed by dealers in the past and learned my lessons the hard way.

There are a few good honest dealer around.  If you find one, reward them with your business.
