I answered an advert advertising parrots for sale. After paying the agreed purchase price you are advise that it will cost you 160.00 to ship the birds to you in England. Then you hear nothing for about ten days. the next thing you are advise that the birds/parrots are at the airport and everthing beginnings in a state of urgency. but----......

There are NO branch offices of Air Animal, Inc. contrary to what these off-shore based companies state in their e mails to you. Air Animal, Inc directs its sales and marketing activities to the family relocating either within the USA or globally; and is rarely involved in the transportation of puppies for purchase, or pets for adoption.

the business profile of the off-shore based company is to have you wire transfer several hundred US dollars to their off-shore locations via Western Union . Once they set the hook into you with your initial deposit .. .. they come back with a sense of urgency . indicating there are additional funds required to have US veterinarians conduct tests before the pet is released to you and then request generally an additional USD$150.00 . As you review their e mails to you always with a sense of urgency directed towards you .. the unsuspecting US consumer you will observe frequent errors in spelling and significant errors in sentence structure.

another identifier of the off-shore based company is their reluctance to provide you with flight details, airline schedules, and air cargo air way bill tracking numbers the off-shore based company will only provide you with information after you have wired them additional funds.

Summary :

1. Know your seller --- request their web site for company profile.

2. Avoid foreign purchases requiring Western Union funds transfer.

3. Pay only with a credit card.

4. Demand a telephone contact and the sellers name.

5. Demand references from previous satisfied buyers.

I lost over $3,000.00 with this scam. I paid for the parrots paid for the shipping then told urgently pay for the insurance and finally pay for the move from leed to london and then I was told that someone had stolen my birds and if I send them another 300.00 they would get my money back and also pay me and extra bonus.

At this stage I call the police and reported this Obtaining money by deception Fraud
