A happy Paypal member for 8 years or more, no problem with Paypal until filed this Claim.

I filed a claim with Paypal on 1/21/2010, because I received my item back from the buyer damaged.  On 2/20/210 I faxed over the request documentation, which was from an unbiased third party, and I have not heard from Paypal. Also the unbiased third party said that the item was damaged and not repairable.

Now I am receiving phone calls from a Collection for the amount of my claim.

Per Paypal request:

What To Do Next

Please provide documentation confirming that the item you received isdamaged or significantly not as described.

This documentation should be from an unbiased third party, such as a dealeror repair shop, and should detail the extent of the damage or confirm that the item you received is significantly different from what the seller advertised.

This third party should be someone who is qualified to appraisethe item you received. Please do not proceed with any repairs or alterations to the item until the case has been decided.

The information should be on letterhead that includes the name, address, and phone number of the appraiser so that we may contact them if we require additional information. We are unable to reimburse you for any cost associated with obtaining this documentation. Any documents you provide may be supplied to the buyer, at their request.

There is no seller protection for SNAD

There is no seller protection for SNAD at all.  Want proof?  Call paypal posing as a buyer that's concerned about an ebay purchase that was made that isn't as described and probe them about the process.  Show concern about the seller being able to prove that the item was not different or in working order or whatever the case may be and the rep will tell you that paypal automatically sides with the buyer since they are in no position to authenticate the merchandise since it was never in their possession.

That nonsense about appealing is only there to give the seller the impression that they actually are protected.

It's a shame because this encourages sellers to only sell things they can loose which will insure that ebay will remain the place where it is expected to receive counterfeit goods because those are the only items that are cheap enough that sellers can sell in quantity and be able to be ripped off at the same time and still make money.
