I am a recent college graduate trying to find a job in a harsh economy. My search has only been made worse by these so called "Marketing Companies".

I went on an interview with Peerless Marketing Concepts. They advertised for public relations positions. On the second interview, I spent the entire day driving around in a car selling office supplies with a kid that was still in college and younger then me. I had asked them flat out if it was a sales position, they told me no. They also had a quiz at the end of the day with 8 rules.

I also went on first interviews with Platinum Promotions and Titan Marketing. Both seemed to have very similar practices to Peerless. I turned down offers from Cor Concepts and 3w Marketing because they also seemed similar. 3W and Titan share a building and have the same Baltimore logo on their web pages.

A friend of mine who lives 70 miles north of me in New Jersey went on a second interview with Tri-State events. They told her it was a position for an event planner. She asked flat out if there was any sales involved and they told her no. She spent 8 hours in a grocery store parking lot selling stuffed animals in the heat. After, she was given a quiz with the same eight rules that Peerless had!

Can you say pyramid scheme?!

All these companies are somehow related and out to prey on people who are right out of high school and college. They claim to be looking for workers for advertising, public relations, event planning etc. but they all are horrible, cold sales jobs.

There are so many of these companies. The employee I was with basically admitted the scheme to me. He told me that you have to work in sales for about a year and a half and then you are promoted and can start your own company and give it a new name. I think a stop needs to be put to this. They are wasting the time and talent of young teens and adults.

Hi to all, I used to be an admin. at a Cydcor compnay in NJ. The way these places work and recruit is truley wrong. I applied to the job thinking that it was a normal admin job...I had no idea what I was getting myself into. This company has fancy adds on Monster.com and Careerbuilder.com- as a result many people would call and wonder about the job...my job was to basically get as many people in as possible regardless if they had experience or not. Overall, the requirment to work at this company required no skills or education at all...as long as you could breath and had two legs you could work here! Its was really weird. I also came to find that I was told to lie to the people calling in order to get them in for an interview. The other creepy thing was the each and every morning new recruits or " first interviews" would come in and they would hear the same old speech about how this company was trying to "hire" asap and that it was such a great opportunity.....also I would hear people everyday being brainwashed in the "atmosphere" room. The sad thing is - is that in the end...I realized that this company known as Cydcor ( and the company I worked at) are A CULT. I heard as an admin what would be said.....to anyone who is thinkgin about workin at one...DONT...thanks
