Pep Boys tried to rip me off, wanted to charge me $800 for something that didn't need to be fixed New Orleans Louisiana
I brought my 1995 Pontiac Firebird to Pep Boys to recieve an estimate. The manager, Barry Warner, walked out to my car with me, had me pop the hood, and after a 3 second glance told me that I needed a new water pump and serpentine belt.
I asked him for a printed estimate, but he said he could not give me one until he recieved the belt. He did not explain why he could not give me a printed estimate for the water pump.
Fortunately, I am not the gullible woman he took me to be. I brought my car to a Pontiac dealership where I was informed that there was in fact, absolutely nothing wrong with the engine. The noise had been coming from a loose part in the exhaust system.
According to my friend Barry at Pep Boys, I would need to fork over at least $800 to repair the pump and the belt. Because my exhaust system was recently replaced and is still under warranty, it will cost me nothing to repair my car.
Pep Boys intended to pocket $800 of my money (which takes me about three weeks to earn as a waitress) and would not have even fixed the problem with my car. I will never bring any business of mine to that corrupt, dishonest company again.
